I Killed my rim!!

I was driving my lude with my new Konig Trantrums on. Only 2 months old and i pulled into ACE hardware. There was this huge pothole that was pretty much unavoidable, i nailed it and heard gun shot bang on my back wheel. I quickly ran out of the car to see the expected damage.Huge chip and chewed up lip :+( What do you guys think i should do, i want to make ACE pay for my rim. Are there any laws anyone knows of about parking lots. Actaully now that i think off all the stores in there share the parking lot. I don't know what to do, it looks bad now. I purchased them from Discount tire direct. I e-mailed Konig but they haven't responded.

dont' know about your area, but there's a law around here like that, but it only applies to major public roads and highways. not sure about commercial lots and parking areas. the city will be held accountable for damage to the car that is due to poor road surfaces/curbs such as excessively large potholes and stuff like that, which is at the discretion of the city (which may not always agree with the public. :rolleyes: )

i don't know what to tell you. you may have to take the hit yourself, but hopefully there's some way you can get reimbursed for that wheel. jus be more careful next time. good luck with it.

You need to contact your insurance and then find the mamagement company for the shopping center. It may be fruitless to sue-except in small claims court. You will need photos of the car and lot and if possible a way to verify (witnesses) the accident. You should also contact Discount Tire and ask them what a replacement will cost. Order it now. Why-because the cost of repairing a rim can equal 1/2 the price of a new one or more. This way you don't drive on it either. BTW: I do hope you get it taken care of quickly as the tire may also be damaged in a way you cannot see. Just consider this as you should have a spare rim anyhow-mainly if you plan to keep them and the car-Konig and the rest do not make them for more than a few years.

A note: Most shopping centers are mamaged properties and this is why it is so hard to recover.

hey i bent up 2 wheels front and back on my lude about 3 years ago..i have SSR integrals which were at the time $350 a piece. i was in malibu when it happened...drove over a boulder (size of a kleenex box) while avoiding an old geezer crossing the street.

i had the insurance company pay for up to $500 or whatever the help was for a one car collision without raising my premium. i just paid for the rest + wheel alignment... shit happens man. you can try arguing to the property management, but it will take you a LONG time before your wheel is fixed. talk to your insurance company what they can do to help.

if i were you, considering the price of your tantrums, i'd just have the insurance buy you a new one, or just buy another wheel.
