hey guys just a quick question. my old man says when he was a youngin they would take a coffee can, bolt it somwhere underthe hood, run a fuel line in it and coil it up, add dry ice to the can and it should last a whole night of fun on the street and give you a bit of free power. any thoughts to weather or not this would do much?

Yeah, that was an old trick years ago at the drag races to make the fuel/air mixture more dense by cooling the fuel before it reached the carb...it was okay for the drags, but impractical in daily use....

does it add any real ho or is it like 2-3

Yeah, it will add some hp, not sure exactly how much, but making the air/fuel mixture more dense will increase hp, that is for sure

From what I gathered from that, you mean to coil the fuel line inside the coffee can & add dry ice to it to cool the fuel. It won't make a difference at all. Actually, it will probably make your car run rich
Since the car calculates a/f ratio by measuring the incoming air charge, and injecting a specific amount of fuel to make it combust, this will make the amount of fuel coming into each cylinder be more than normal, because the fuel is more dense, so a injector pulse duration of .5 seconds will now have the amound of fuel of a injector pulse width that lasts .6 seconds (numbers made up, just making a point).
So, unless you get a dyno tune for the change in fuel, you will run rich. But even with a tune, your car will not produce more power.
Fuel doesn't get very hot compared to the incoming air charge. Also, since there is about 13-15 times the amount of air in each cylinder per combustion cycle, it doesn't make sense to try to play with the amount/density of fuel coming in.

well if his dad told him when he was a yougin it was a caburated engine. couldnt u somehow use the dry ice on the intake and cool the intake down so the air doing though it is more dense?

well they have a more advance way of doin this now its called cry02, it shoots i think im not sure co2 into your intake with the air and makes the air more dense, and you press a button to shoot the co2
