Bigger Wheels/Tires

Any experience fitting oversized wheels and tires to the mid-eighties SL's, the 380's and 500's? Or could you point me to a source. The search function didn't help. In this case, I'm not interested in flares, so I need the max that will fit under the existing fenders. Thanks. Dave
