removing cat from v6 camaro

I have a 2002 v6 camaro, and was wondering what i would have to do to remove the cats from it.

get a dog :smokin:

replace them with straight pipes but your better off just getting a high flow cat.

nice, but yeah, i wouldnt recomend removing them all together, its not nessesary, will piss off the smog police, and will undboutably have negative results on the way your engine runs. if you really want to do something to them, then get the high flow cats from someone like random technologys and run with it. backpressure is a nessesary evil in making power, look at any dyno run, engines make more torque with small ammounts of backpressure. strait pipes loose that torque which is more important for a street car.

besides, to remove the cat, you need some o2 simuliators.

I am going to have to agree with IROC on this. There is no reason to take off your cats. If you really need that extra HP jump, there are better things to spend your money on.

i gutted my cat and saw serious power increases. it did make the exhaust sound raspy at high RPMs though. im either going to get a hi-flow or will figure out some crazy straight-pipe-through-the-cat idea so that i can still pass inspection (no emissions). however, on the 2000 im pretty sure that you would need o2 simulators cause i think you have sensors after the cat...
