transmisions dip stick

where is the trans. dipstick on a 99 cav. 4spd auto .the owners manual says there are 2 types ,one has a red pull ring and the other is on top of trans. is a red snap stick ,in any case i dont have what it says or shows in the manual .so i took it to a dealer and he said i would have to put it up on a rack and take 1 bolt out on the side of the trans. if fluid came out its ok if not add some ,is this true or is the won thats on the top of my trans. missing the stick ,it has a plastic screw on red cap

Yes it is a sealed system you can not check the level by the cap it does not have a dip stick. and he is right the only wat to check is by pulling a bolt ot on the side of the tranny and if fluid drips out you are ok and if nothing you need some and if it pours out means there is to much.
