Remote Keyless Entry Programming

I have a '91 Ninety-Eight Touring Sedan that I love. Does anyone know how to program a different remote that does not carry the same FCC number as the original. I jumped the far right and near left terminals on the diagnostic plug under the dash and the door locks started clicking every couple of seconds. Could it be as easy as just hitting any button on the new remote while these terminals are being jumped? Trying to find out before I purchase the replacement remote.

When you get into the program mode after the door locks lock and unlock press and hold the lock and unlock buttons at the same time for about 20 sec. and your horn or lights should should then its. Programmed.

I have a 1996 98 Regency Elite does anyone know how to get into the dignostic mode. Like on my old cadillac i would just hold the "Off" and "Warm" button at the same time and it would enter the mode and tell me all the trouble codes does anyone know how to do this on a 1996 Regency Elite.

Thanks

Why are you trying to program the wrong remote to the car? The FCC number being different means the remotes have different frequencies, and will not be interchangeable.
