I've been posting way too much in here recently... :(

Short story is, sis was driving home and the car's gearbox seized literally 100 yards from our house. So, have to decide whether to get rid of the car or fix it... Have to see how much a new gearbox costs....

Either way, it means no car for a while :( :( :(

Whatever.... next you're gonna tell me clutch-less gearchanges are bad for the car too

Actually was looking to split a 993 with the old man (which means we split it for the first few months and then it becomes mine as he tires of the hard ride :evillol: )

Still, dont see that happening soon as i may be out of a job in Jan.... maybe i should start another thread about that. Everything since summer has been f*cking going wrong :banghead:

Not to be an asshole (any more than usual) but gearboxes almost always give warning before this happens, such as leaking lube or noisy bearings.
Ignore them at your peril.
The previous owner of my S-10 did just that.
He seized the trans at 80 mph in the fast lane of Hwy 400 in morning rush hour traffic.
Needless to say he was lucky to make it out alive.

Gearbox wasn't beeing noisy and changes were as easy as ever. I've been driving the car for a good while and would have noticed if the 'box was playing up.

A '98 mk3 VW Golf (1.6). Nothing spectacular but did the job and was the first car i got sideways :iceslolan so it will be missed.... will have to see how much it will cost to get a new box as i cant go without a car for long.

umm... the previous owner of your s10? that means you have the car now? If he was lucky to get out alive then how was the car still even driveable?

Both rear tires locked up completely. Because he was a decent driver he made it to the left shoulder immediatly and came to a smoking stop.
But if he was in a center lane or had not taken such swift action, a pile up (with subsequent injury/death) was almost certain.
He rebuilt the whole engine and driveline, repainted it, added red aluminum Fiero valve covers, (Lord knows why!) drove it for another 35,000 miles then sold it to me for $600.

LOL. Thats why they say never let a chick drive your car. :evillol: But sorry to hear about it going. Thats amazing that they got out alive. You would have no chance in making it out alive around here if anything happened during rush hour. Our roads are refered to as the moving parking lots everyone is close to you on all sides except in front provided you aren't tailgaiting. I had a blow out and nearly died luckily the person in the lane to my left slowed immediately to give me space to get over thanks to an 18 wheeler passing at 85 on my right i got some help getting over.

I, for one, hope my gearbox blows up soon.

Into little pieces.

Itty bitty little pieces.

All over the road.
