Rotar 4 Rotary...

It would be awesome to get ahold of one of the 4 rotar engines and put in a '90's RX-7...if it would fit...

First, theres no way you can get ahold of a 4 rotor engine, unless you steal one from the mazda museum.

That said, you can build your own 4 rotor, but you need to make a custom eccentric shaft, i read in some ricer mag that a shop in japan made their own e-shaft and used 12a rotor/housings to make theirs. It was put into an FD which had custom bodywork. I forget if the engine was turbo or not, but who can argue with 4 rotors?

Doesn't pineapple racing make the 4 rotar? I think I read somewhere on their site that they would tailor make a rotary for your needs 1 rotar, rotar and even 4 rotars. I could be wrong but I have heard that some shop in austraila sells the 4 rotar e shaft for $5,000.
Also scoot put a 4 rotar in an fd, I don't have their link or I would post it for you but I'm sure it's easy to find.

a shop in UK also build 4 rotor engines. they are used in mud racing and stuff like that.

when installing a 3 rotor in an FD, you have to move the rad forward, and reconfigure the engine bay. imagine the mess it would be with a longer block
anyway, 13b are capable of 650hp, 20b are in the 800 range. who needs 800 hp ? therefore, there is no use to have a 4 rotor FD unless you want to do extreme dragracing or compete the lemans 24hours

Doesnt the Mazda 787B still race? Its got the 4 rotar engine.

hasn't raced since 1991... other 4 rotors may have raced somewhere, but not that I know of

While trying to write this post I miss clicked atleast 20 times and had to go over and correct myself again and again, I'll try to slow down with my typing and see if that helps.

787b was not banned, it went out when the group C era ended. The rules changed and made all the LM cars at the time obselete. The nissan RC90 was making 1300hp in qualifying trim and this sort of thing was seen to be too dangerous, like the turbos in F1 so the rules were changed to reduce power and downforce. The most power a lemans car will make these days is around 700hp because of the 34mm inlet restrictors and engine capacity restrictions. Mazda did continue to compete with the 792p in 1992 which still used the R26B but in a different chassis. The car was a bit of a flop and mazda pulled out altogether.
