problem...

ok, i was coming home from my friends house and my check engine light, my battery light, and my oil light pop up, my power steering goes out and my car dies. it starts back up again but the check engine light is still on. when the car dies the accessories and everything else is still running. it did this to me two times tonight and i was wondering if anyone knew what would cause this to happen. thank you for your help

could be a bad alternator and you battery dying.

but if my battery or my alternator was going bad, then my accessories wouldnt still be on when it shut off.

well sometimes there is enough power to run them but not to power the car. so if the altinator isnt powering the battery enough you wouldnt get enough charge to start the car but there is enough to run radio and other accessories, well i am not a mechanic but that would be my first thing to check.

no, im saying that when my car will shut off my accessories would still be on and then my power steering would go. then i try to start it again and it will start fine but then my check engien light is still on. so its like i stalled it but i didnt. im thinkin that its just a loose connection at the pcm or something like that

See if you have a little wire comming off the main - terminal of the battery and make sure it is good. Some cars this is the ground for the computer (pcm).
