Hi guys,

Havent seen me in a while huh, Anyway heres 3 shots of an escalade i recently finished, Paint is house of kolor razzberry as the red, and a combination of lime time pearl and tru blue pearl for the pinstripes on the flames, the center of the flames are tru-blue pearl over the razzberry pearl, then i mixed some house of kolor miniflake in the clear to give it a glitter, Then i sanded down the lip that holds the stock kit tire on the rims and wraped them in a lower profile tire, Hope you enjoy.

How come you do such a great job on the whole thing, modifying the wheels and tires and masking and painting such a complex paint job, but you neglect the window rubbers and the black lining around the windsheild and the rear windows? Other than that, it's a fantastic model - a disappointing omission, though.

Thank you for pointing that out, As much as i whould love to paint my window rubber i am very scared to take a knife to my paint jobs, One wrong slip and there goes a $75 paint job. But i do take a knife to my lowriders to do chrome window trim so i guess it cant be no differnt right? Since my favorite thing to do on models is bmf (bare metal foil) and iv gotten kinda good at it, I was thinking of getting some of the black chrome bmf to do my black window rubbers. as for the black trim on the glass part, I will deffinitly give it a shot on a scrape window and practice before i go messing up a kit window. Thank you for pointing those things out, Now i have some new things to try.

You don't have to use a knife for the black trim on the body - I don't as I have a hard time judging just how hard to press to cut the tape but not the paint. What I do is either use very thin Aizu tape or cut the tamiya tape into very thin strips (1-1.5 mm) before applying it to the model. Thin stripsof tape can be "bent" to follow the contours of the trim, and usually two strips meet at the corners of the window. After that you can either add more tape to mask the rest of the body or just brushpaint the trim - it will look good enough. Believe me, it's not hard at all. I follow roughly the same procedure for the black areas on the windows themselves, but I don't brushpaint them.

BMF can also be used as a great masking film. I use it fairly often, it seals well but it does leave a residue that must be removed. The windows are easy peasy, just run masking tape completely over the outside of the windown, and trim. Then, mask the inside completely. Carefully use a pencil or felt tip pen to trace an outline of the black lining, then trim it with a brand new blade. Just let the blade glide across the tape, the weight of the knife should be enough, but do try to get it in one pass because it is difficult to trace the same line. Good luck, your work is outstanding, and these details would make them just remarkable.

Robert, I am unsure of the next meeting. I do know they are holding an IPMS meeting I believe on the 13th at the hobby shop. I also think that is when their regular car model meeting is. They will hold that meeting at the coffe shop across the street from the Police station. From their they will head down to the Hobby Shop for the IPMS meeting. That is being done to start a chapter of IPMS in the area. I think the car meeting is at 1 p.m. and the IPMS meeting at the hobby shop is at 3 p.m.
As for your black window trim, I use a broad tip sharpie paint pen. I have had excellent results. I follows the contours very well and they are enamel so if you clear over the paint it will not run.
I can tell you the Black Chrome is nice, but very hard to work with on contours, just from my experience.
Damn fine 'lade!
