Does anybody know if the information on Nissan website is correct and they are charging $1600 extra for manual trans. on this model?

Yes, this is correct. This is the car that I preordered. I got to see the dealer sheet with all the package information and also discussed the package differences with him. He could have been BSing me, but it did look like when you add 6sp to the touring model you get all performance package options included. Not only did this include the wheels, but something else that escapes me right now. May have had something to do with the traction control or differential.

Anyway, you can look at it two ways since the equipment works out the same. You are buying a touring model and paying for the upgrade to the performance, or you can think of it as buying the performance package and upgrading the stereo and seats to the luxury stuff.

The reason for the $1600 extra, is because when you "upgrade" to the 6 speed manual in the Touring package, you also get the 18" rims, tires, and tire air pressure monitor. You do not get these if you get the Touring Package with a Tiptronic.

if you have the brochure from the dealership, it lays out the differences very well...for the extra 1600, you get loads more...try to pick up one of the brochures, it helped me figure everything out more clearly!
