Corolla 98 check engine light code 441

The check engine light is on, and after checking with OBD, the mechanic said it's a code 441, and he thinks it is air flow sensor, or that it may possibly be just a dirty air filter. Does that sound correct? The problem that I have, though, is that the engine has had a tendency to die right after refueling when idling. Right after I refulel, the engine would die one or two times, but after one or two miles it would work perfectly fine again (not even coming close to trhe usual trembling / shaking stage)
I was wondering if the problem is related to the check engine light? Could both of those things be a matter of a fuel injection pump, or fuel filter? (I doubt, however, since the "dying engine" problem does not happen before refueling - when the tank is almost empty - but it it strictly happens right after refueling)
Thank you!

Have you tried fueling with the motor not running and see if the results are the same (if itll start right up or not)
