To my eyes, it looks like the Honda color "Electron Blue Pearl." :2cents:

It does look kinda like the Honda color....
I knew it was gonna be a hard color to match...but $30/can is a bit steep for me right now!

I've looked into it, but so far I haven't found any that were Sonic Blue. I think I may have found another brand of nail polish that's really close, I'll get some tomorrow and see how it turns out. I'm getting some project pics together on the 3 Fords I've got going, should have them up in the next week or so. Hopefully I can have the first mist on the Lightning by then.

Screw the paint store. The absolute best place to get paint is from... the dealership. If that's a stock color, go to the Ford place and be all like "Yo I need this nutty blue pearl color like on the Lightning from [year] and I need it now!" and they will look at you like you're retarded because you just drove up in a Honda that certainly isn't a truck, or a Ford, or a Lightning from [year] but it'll be worth it 'cause in your little hand you'll be holding (are you ready for this?) a little itty bitty bottle of...(you're not ready!)
(ok, now you are)...the actual color! Just pour it out (messy!) into a bottle ready for your airbrush and cut it about 1:1 or 1:2 with some lacquer thinner (stinky!) and you're set.
But I do find domestic dealerships to be a lot harder to get paints from - the Dodge dealership I tried to get paint from wanted my VIN and whatnot and I kept telling them, "No, I just want a bottle of the gunmetal you put on your big honkin' trucks, so gimme it!!" but they'd have none of that (even though I'd been in the previous week and the little fella in the parts department that time just tippy-tapped on his computer and wham-o they were fresh out. San mo.) Honda, and Acura, who I get tons of paints from, and Volvo, have been especially nice. "I need a red..." "Firepepper pearl?" "Spot on! Gimme gimme, here's $7.50... yoink!"
Paint is yummy in my tummy.

If it's not a stock color, I'm fresh out. See what info you can source on the truck, and what color they used. With a little digging, luck should find you the PPG paint codes and you cold at least get it custom mixed. Some paints may be.... secret or something but you may be able to get close. That may be fairly costly, and you may not be able to get only 1oz mixed, but I imagine you could bottle it and sell it to chumps like me for $3-4 a pop to help defray the cost. Ebay is the coolestestest!

willimo, you rock. That was absolutely hilarious.
Yes it's a stock color and Ford was so proud of it even the Focus got a taste of its awesomenessess.
Hey, I can get a 35% discount at our hometown Ford dealership, I got some inside pull :smokin: Why did I not think of this before??

Bottles of touchup (which I was refering to) usually run about $7 or so at the dealership. They are more than Duplicolor, but they come right out of the same batches they painted the 1:1's with, so they are exact (the number on the door panel of your car refers to a specific batch of that color, which they keep some of on hand for little fixes downt he road). Some places, like Volvo, cost more because they have both the color and some clear in a little set. Volvo's pack was $14 for me, since I know a Volvo dealer. I think they run $20 though. Totally worth it, it gave me that hot color I used on my S2000 fastback. Best $20 I ever spent.

Or, as an alternative to going to the dealership, you could always try:
http://carmodeler.net/colorcatalog.htm
I checked, and they actually have the colors for Lightnings under the Ford colors.
I believe (don't quote me) that they sell 2oz. jars ready for airbrushing for about $6. Though I don't think that they can ship outside the US because of the type of paint.
They have colors for lots of cars, and they are all original manufacturer colors.

Okay, just double checked....
A 2oz jar is $6.95, and the color you are looking for looks to be 2003 Ford Lightning color called Sonic Blue Pearl....
Hope this helps.

I may be looking in the wrong place, but I couldn't find anything for sale on Scale Auto King, after following some links I found the paints you were talking about but they only had foreign colors...?

Telephonica blue is way too dark
Mica blue would be a bit too dark (I work with it right now)
My bet goes for Ts-54 Light Metallic Blue. I used it 2 time, and it look close to this

Sorry about that. If you go to Cobra colors, you can find the ones they have.
Which it sounds like you did.
It appears that they don't have all the colors in stock at the moment.
You may be able to call and ask them about getting that color.
Or I have used Finish master.
Well, actually I got started there when I painted my 1:1 camaro. But you can go in and they will custom mix about 4oz. of any paint color you want. They will even mix it pre-thinned for airbrush aplication. Just make sure you use a good primer, as this is actually automotive paint, and will craze certain primers.
Or if you don't have an airbrush, they also sell an aerosol touch-up system.
It looks like a pepper-spray that you screw onto a babyfood jar.
You just pour the pre-mixed paint into the babyfood jar, screw on the aerosol canister to the top, and srpay just like a rattle-can.
The price gets a little expensive for the paint and the applicator, but I have done it for both 1:1 touch-ups, and on 1:24 cars before I got my airbrushes.
Just a couple other thoughts.
Sorry that Cobra colors didn't have any domestic colors. Guess I should have checked better before I spoke.
Also, in case anyone is interested in finishmaster, go to
http://finishmaster.com/locations.cfm
and just click on your state. It will give you a list of all the distributors.

Well, it's close enough. Milani Blue Nile Nail Laquer. Duplicolor doesn't make it, Model Masters doesn't make it, Cobra colors doesn't have it.......I didn't check with the dealership yet, but at $2/bottle I can use this stuff. BTW, the pic is off their site, I would never paint my own nails that color!
