Hey Viper, I'm also running the BT/A20A3 with the 12 valve head. It totally sucks trying to find anything for this engine since it's non-vtec sohc relic.
I like this motor though, I'm a softy for originality and more than slightly annoyed with the current Vtec swapping subculture.
My 86 Si is currently recieving a head overhaul which will include a 3 angle valve job and port and polish, all being done by the Honda dealership near my house in Houston. I can't wait to get it back and feel the difference. Those two flow improvements and a short ram air intake are my only mods, so you're a step ahead of me. I plan on putting in a full exhaust as well.
Depending on how deep you want to get into your quest for more out of our humble A20A3, I suggest staying all motor, avoid forced induction, & definetely stay away from NOS!! Screw that 2 fast 2 furious bullshit!
Don't be a squid man.
Go with a 1 above stock cam, matched set of lightweight pistons, connecting rods and crank, chromoly rings and a lightweight flywheel. And maybe a .20 over bore on the cylinders. Then, as I am doing, go with a port & polish, as long as your engine is apart anyway, right? Send the head to a machine shop.
You've got your exhaust and & intake, the above mentioned engine and head mods, add in hotter ignition (although this is difficult, I've had no luck in locating an MSD coil that has the harness necessary for our year model) MSD wires and a good synthetic oil, either Royal Purple or Redline. If not one of those, then Mobil 1 synthectic, all 5 W 30 btw.
From my point of view, these will safely add more power with out imminently destroying your engine, although PRICEY...yes..very. The Head work being done to mine is costing me around $1,500 Infact, in the long run, it would be more cost effective, probably cheaper and much more efficient to swap but everyone is swapping, wouldn't you like to dust Vtec roddie with an A20?
Okay, let the vultures and trolls out there begin feeding. Bring it on.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention an oil cooler, that'll help too..umm might as well add larger volume oil pump, larger cc fuel injectors too, higher volume fuel pump also...okay I'm done this time..really.

Thanks for the info Greg. I will definatlly take these things into carefull consideration. My A20 is already putting out about 120 to the ground. From what i have figured up from my track runs. I can dust my buddies 91 crx si with the mini me swap. a6 bottom with y8 head. 11.25:1 compression. His car is a 9.5 car in the eighth mile. When we race I beat him but it is just a slow walk. I think it is about time for a rebuild anyway. LoL my car is an 87 and the counter for the miles stopped at around 267 k lol. Oh and I forgot to mention. I am currently swapping the stock intake manifold with the manifold from a JDM B16. I have the plans if you would like to see them. Just shoot me a pm if so. I wish you luck with you endevour and let me know how it turns out.

Hey bro! I didn't expect to recieve a reply from you so soon. Are you in the states? I'm a KBR goonie currently stationed in Kuwait so I can afford to spend $5,400 on my old jalopy :)
I've no idea of the mod your talking about that your buddy has done with his CRX, the Mini Me thing? What is that? I love my 86 Si, everyone else in my family has been begging me to sell it. They can only see an old car that's had some problems :( I see my baby I've had for 4 years and I want to fix up :)
I'm also clueless as to the B16 intake swap you're talking about, can you tell me more about this?
I wish I could figure what kind of power I'm gonna net from the 3 angle and port and polish, I can't wait to get home and pick my car up and do some driving! I'm not allowed to own a vehicle over here and I'm not lucky enough to have 1 issued to me like some others do. I've only ridden a Yamaha Banshee once in the 4 months I've been here. These people over here are crazy with their quads! I see 15 year kids riding sport quads down the freaking Highway!!! At Night!
At this point, I don't think I'm going to take my mods on my car much further than I've currently done, which isn't much. I just plan on replacing the struts, brakes, cv joints, a/c, paint and bodywork, and a decent exhaust system with 4 into 2 into 1 header and freeflow cat with 1 7/8in pipe..I don't wanna loose all my backpressure by going to a too large diameter of pipe. 2 in might be okay but no more than. You know any good deep resonant tone mufflers that don't look retarded? Maybe a decent duallie out back setup?
Actually, I would like to lower my car like..half an inch at the most, just for a lower center of gravity, to improve handling. I can't seem to find a set of springs that fit though. I don't wanna slam it.
Okay, gotta get back to work..talk to you later dude.

The A20A3 responds very well to mods. It can be modified with B16A intake (saw off water tube and redrill some holes) I merge 86 LXi trans case with 86 Integra inerts (BIG accel gains), trim the flywheel to 12 lb (for light cars), port and polish, I raise exhaust ports 1/8" taller and match exhaust to that making my own equal length 4:1 header with 1 5/8" x 30" tubes. I mill heads .020-.030 more, Webb 148i grind works great. My ported head flows identical to a Integra LS head!
If you are a doubter....my 86 CRX HF with this swap ran 12.92 @ 106mph even before the close ratio & 4.40 Integra gearing. Even in 90+ degree heat it was never slower than 13.3 @ 102mph. Totally stock bottom end running 7500 rpm all the time. And the best parts...they are EASY to work on and fairly light weight.
