timing belt covers/valve covers

will a timing belt cover off a b18a fit my dohc ZC?? and will the valvecover fit it aswell?

Valve cover definatley no, I dont think the timing belt cover will either. I believe for the tbelt cover you need one from an 88 prelude, but not positive.

I have an '86 D16A1 motor, basicly the ZC minus the valve size and camshaft lift and duration. So, the valve cover and timing belt covers off that motor should swap right over, but I have also heard about the '86-'87 and '88-'89 A1 valve covers bolting down differently. If you're interested, let me know how the head you have is holed for the valve cover and I'll be able to tell you if mine would work for ya.

the only reason i ask is because i'm getting a 90 teg parts car, and i know the valve cover has the aluminium belt cover on the top and i wouldnt mind having that because it looks a bit better to me. i just wanted to see what else i could use off this car because i'm using the rear brakes, maybe fronts, boost, master, prop valve, and maybe throttle body, the rest is being parted out unless i can use it

Its also easier to rocks and things to fall inside and break the timing belt. And another huge problem is that most people remove only the top cover, so any small foreign object that happens to fall into that area gets trapped in the bottom of the lower timing cover and whatever that object is has *ALOT* greater chance of causing more damage.

either take the whole damn timing cover off, or put the top back on. If you cant tell by your car dying and then turning over VERY quickly without "firing" that your timing belt is broken, maybe you shouldn't be working on the engine anyways :P

yea i know its an 88 lude belt but i wanna know exactly what cover will fit the dohc zc. and since i'm gonna be getting a 90 teg i wanted to know if that one would work

okay yeah gotcha.. Only the 88 prelude will fit. I dont think that even a d16a dohc one will fit also, due to the bolts being spread out more, and a large head?? But not sure. All i can tell you is an Integra one will not fit, because its too big-tbelt, and the valve cover is too wide and long and tall and bolts dont line up...



And you do want a timing belt cover. ---WTF if you put it on right it shouldnt break..Plus all you need is to cut the valve cover on the tbelt side to reveal the cam gears for adjusting, otherwise why would you not want a t-belt cover???? MORON!!!!
