Side Mirrors

Do all side mirrors lose thier inside coating over time? My 99 has. You can see through the glass and see the coating peeling. Has this happened to anyone else? Is there a TSB out on the Expedition about this? Can I get Ford to change these out? Thanks

Nope, my '99's are still looking new...is it happening to both evenly?

Yes, both look like crap and have for a while. When it started I did know what a TSB was and was still under 3 years and 36000 miles. I should have had Ford change these. I did find a TSB number 00-18-9 but I dont know what it says, I just got the number.

I called Muth Mirror Systems and they are going to replace the mirrors. Very nice people to talk to. Ford was no help at all. Local Ford dealer would not return my calls, after many calls I did get to the service manager and he said his computer would not let him in to find out about the TSB. I talked to Ford and they said take it to your dealer. So I think that Ford dealer knows that Muth will replace the mirrors so they charge me out the butt for parts and labor, then they get Muth to pay them for replacement of the mirrors. Just a thought, I may be wrong.

Have a 99 and the prev. owner had them replaced under warr. Same thing the coating was peeling inside.
