Making tail light covers..

Ok, I have altezza lights on my 95 civic coupe (I know, I know! What was I thinking?).. anyways.. they are the ones that have the reverse lights inside a red ring..
Now, the red ring around the reverse light doesn't light up anyways, so it's basically useless to have. I was wondering if it's possible to make body colored covers so only the reverse light shows (Sorta like the Lexus IS300 tail lights, except with the reverse lights)..
Any ideas?
These are the ones I'm talking about http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...7930645167&rd=1

I don't know, it'd be hard to make covers for it and get both sides to match. You could use NightShade and black out the outsides. Or use a spray paint and do it to match the color of your car.

WHat do you mean get both sides to match? I only want to cover the inside part, the part that is in the trunk lid..
I want to cover all of the inside, except for the reverse light circle..
Like I said I want the IS300 look, with the chrome light on the outside and then just a circle on the inside.

you could always tape it off and paint it to match the body.

Yeah but if you make covers, both the left and right side (inner lights) will have to match each other. Maybe I'm confused about what you mean by cover. Do you mean like building something out of fiberglass or something to cover the outer parts of those 2 lenses? Or do you mean like covering it with tape or vinyl? I figured you ment making something out of fiberglass or some other material to cover it, in which case you'd have to make sure both sides looked identical (well reversed anyways). But xtant is right, the easiest way would be to tape off the part you want to keep and spray the rest with the same color as the body of the car.

Is there a certain paint to use for doing that? And will light bleed through it? Basically will it look ok.. I want it to look clean.

use a primer then a base clear or take it to a body shop and have them do it.

are you familiar with fiberglass? if so you can make a mold from the outside part of the lens. from there you can make an exact copy of the outside lens with this mold. cut to shape however you want, sand, prime, paint, attach with automotive double sided tape so you can remove at a later time. seems like a lot of work, but you can make any design you want on the cover to let the light show through. kinda like the dodge ram pickup tail light covers that have a head of a ram that lets the light show through.
