I'm seriously considering geting rid of my daewoo( I know, I know, don't laugh too hard) and buying a WRX. I'm looking at the Sti's and I was just wondering if someone makes a widebody kit for them? I'd need to see them, but for right now, the wider the better. Also, What companies make turbo upgrades for the Sti's? Nothing overly huge, just something to boost me into the 350-410hp range and something that could be upgradeable in the future. Roll cages are also a needed item.

Sounding like a complete newbie, I know.....

Thanks for any help, provided!

there are 3 big names to look for on a turbo. Mitsubishi Motors (they provide the stock WRX turbos), Garret, who is a big name when it comes to turbos....they fuel some of the top drag cars. also turbonetics, also a great company. basically for a turbo upgrade, you can buy a single turbo and bolt it up to the stock plumbing if it is small enough, or just buy the single turbo and make some custom plumbing for it. shouldnt be to terribly hard.

i would suggest checking out the garrett GT28 turbos. they are a good size, and provide tons of power. they are that size.....where they can put out big numbers with reduced lag.

Are you building a track car?

No, I'm looking for an every day driver, that's not stock, yet stands out in a crowd and will put up to a little high speed driving every now and then.

a GT28 is great for a daily driven car. many of my friends have GT series turbos on their daily driven cars. it gives it just enough OOMPF for when you need/want it and it also has a pretty quick spool time so its practical for a daily driven car...you arent waiting forever to get the power to the wheels. if you think a GT28 is too big, you can check out those stage 1 upgrades ive seen around.

*somebody* makes a widebody kit; there's an impreza driving around in the Japan GT with one. Probably a custom job, but somebody had to make it. I know, not a lot of help, but at least there's hope. If you're doing it for looks, you'll probably want a custom job anyway. If you're doing it to fit tires under there, rolling the fenders works great.

if you're looking for good streetability go with a larger IHI series turbo. more power and cheaper than anything garret puts out that ive seen. you can get them from $500 - 900 usually. 400+ hp is pushing the streetability of the wrx. you'll need a new clutch and flywheel (cost me $1,000 for a great setup not including install) and get new gears for your 5speed. the gears run from $1,500 - $4,000 or you can buy a 6speed for around $3,000 with everything you need to install it. Cusco makes a rollcage for the wrxs that looks great. Get an STi if you want to put out larger power numbers for cheaper.
