new exhaust! what size?

My stock muffler has cracks & holes all the way back,
spittin,sputteren,poppin & bubblin',
this monday coming up,I had a shop tell me 65.00 from the headers straight all the way back,
I was wondering what size pipe should I put on there,
I dont plan on getting turbo anytime soon,
unless I plan on getting a new motor,
but I am still going to put mods on this motor,
so I was curious to what would be my best bet,
(most hp,not too big,definitly not too small)
on what size exhaust all the way back should I get?
I was thinking 2 inches


(I know there were many post about what size exhaust,
but this is for a practicly stock motor,but I want a real nice sound)

Nothing sounds worse than a bone stock 4-banger with no muffler. That's the asshole who is always revving the engine as you pass or at stop lights. All I can do is shake my head :disappoin Please put a muffler on it.

I dont have a muffler, becuse it rusted and fell off. to much money going into other crx to get one now.

Go 2 1/4" but if you are gonna go turbo later I would get 2 1/2" to 3". When I fix my car and it comes time for a new exhaust im goin 3" thermal r+d.

i'm in the process of making my own 2.5inch system, i might actually have it on tommorow! :D 2.5 header back, with a cherry bomb to resonate the sound a bit. i chose 2.5 because i AM going turbo next year no matter what! car will be stored for winter this time and my tdo4 will be going on :)

my setup is just 2 inch pipe straight from the header (dc 421) w/ no cat or muffler. People always tell me it sounds cool and ask "WHAT EXHAUST YOU GOT ON THERE" lol. I didn't wanna put huge ass 3 inch pipe on because I won't have the $$$ for a turbo setup in the forseable future at all.. so it's good ol' n/a w/ 2 inch pipe.

so anywhere from 2 - 2 1/2" get's my vote. :)
