transmission fun! 97 Blazer

Got another question.
Returning from a long highway trip awhile back, my transmission (automatic) started slamming from 1st to 2nd after taking off from a dead stop. Since the check engine light came on, I checked for codes & got a slipping transmission code & found the transmission fluid was burned.
Figuring I had little to loose, I dropped the pan & changed the filter. After I buttoned everything back up & replaced the fluid, I drove the truck; after about half a mile, the check engine light went out.
The truck's been driving pretty well ever since ,including two more long trips. I do feel like the transmission still shifts just a little rough (my wife says it feels like always to her & I'm just paranoid).
Anyway...someone suggested that the clutch bands may need tightening, so here's the questions:
A. does the initial advice on clutch bands sound right?
B. If so,is that something that could be done by an "advanced novice" or is it best left to a professional?

I have this same problem.
There are a few posts about this one but I'll sum up for you. Lemme guess.. was the code 1870?
Common problem with 4L60E transmissions.
Caused by Worn valve body
Can be fixed with a Transgo shift kit.
You could try installing a transmission cooler, as the problem only happens when the tranny gets over a certain temp (200 i think someone said)
Maybe BlazerLT or Mikado will pop in and help out. They'll know more.

The thing is, you didn't change all the fluid.
Only maybe 20-30% of the tranny fluid is in the pan.
Go get a complete flush done now and replace all the fluid.
