W3RD!!!!

St. Louis - Tampa...........1000 MILES!!!! I've made that drive, actually. I flew to Tampa with a friend. We drove to Port Charlotte to pick up the Porsche 911 Targa he'd bought. Fun car to drive......but not terribly comfortable on a road trip!

OK, Just north of Detroit, to Tarpon Springs, Florida. In a 1997 GT. 16 HOURS. OH, by myself. Was running with 3 other cars, in North GA.
Went by two State Troopers, on the side of the road, at 97 MPH. I was in the middle of the group, so I got a look at their faces. They had that look like; "Damn their nuts. Let's put them in Jail". But they never came out.
Cass, I'm telling your wife that your up at 10:15 at night. Your dead!!!

Walked in from work a little after 10. Seen you on, and I was going to call and wake her up. Tell her your on here looking for women. I think Gina is the only one on. But then I remembered she never gets mad.
Send me some pictures of the grills. Maybe we can get you on Ebay!!! Lucky you, Ya?

Hi carnutcass and kustomkid54, just popping in and saw you're online. Do you guys know what a fuel gauge would stop working on a 2000 Bonneville? I know this is Club GP, but I have a Bonneville too. Thx.

kustomkid54
10-31-2004, 12:03 AM
Oh there cars too.
Could be bad fuel gauge. Bad wire, fuse, bad float. Those troubles it's nice to have the car close by. To check it all out.
Thanks OK, I own a Chevy too.

Nice Chevy! About the Pontiac Grand Prix's, my 1998 GP GT makes noise from the right front wheel area even when going slow. Might be struts? How often you supposed to change those? It has almost 56,000 mi. on it.

She laying right here.......sleeping. Our basement is finished, she's on the couch, my son is playing PS2, and you know where I am. Oh wait, you live in Florida.......you know what a basement is, right? :iceslolan

The whole idea behind making a set of the grills is so that my son can start selling them on Ebay. They're really heavy gauge steel. I'll load up a pic tomorrow. This dial-up sux.......installing DSL tomorrow.

carnutcass, I call it a crunching noise, it's hard to describe. It doesn't squeak. It sounds like coming from the right front wheel well. Hear it with radio off when going even slowly over slight bumps. Car feels bouncy too. Are 'struts' like the 'shocks' we had on old cars? My car sounds like old worn-out shocks.

I lived in Michigan 99% of my life. Basements, pool tables, bar and TV's
Tell your Son that I'm a friend. I would also tell everyone where I got them. And you know down here, no body has anything to buy.
Used to have cable. The day Verizon brought out DSL, I changed. I kind of wish I would have keep the cable. But know I can send you some big folders. If you had a 750 Zip, I could send you some of the couple programs I have. You could mail it back and we could do that for the next year. Did you mail that out yet? Have the Wife sitting at home to the mailman leaves.

This is the 2nd set in 79,000 miles? What kind of road do you live on. Still have the set that came on the car!! When the car is stopped, don't want you to do this when it's running. Only kidding. Push down on that side. Try it with hood opened. The listen to where the noise is. Could be a couple things.

The strut assembly consists of several parts, two of which are the strut cartridge and the coil spring. Sooooooo......the strut assembly actually performs the same function that the coil spring, leaf spring, or torsion bar and shocks served on older vehicles.

The problem could be the strut cartridges if it's bouncy. I think GP's suspension too soft from the factory.

These were made out of heavy gauge, non-galvanized steel. They will be shot with a satin clear-coat. These things are heavy enough that they probably wouldn't bend if a rock hit them. Not sure yet but we're thinking $50 for the set of four. Already been offered the chance to sell thru www.wbodystore.com

I think they would look great painted black. We're going to make some from aluminum also.

You have to remember, Cass and Big-L have email me with list of stuff to put on the new car. They won't send any money. But I have the lists.
Trying to get Cass to send me a set of his grills (in black) so I take some pictures and be the spokeman for his new company. No luck yet.

Yeah, leave a spot for the grills.

As for my desk......I'm a neat freak so there's no nick-nack shit on my desk. Laptop in a docking station, 19" monitor, standard keyboard, laser mouse, inbox, speakers, acquarium, calculator, and a few pics of my family.

My overhead compartments contain catalogs, binders, and every Road & Track for the last 24 months.

OK,
Here's my desk; first it's an oak rolltop. I have Logitech speakers, Telex mic, my digital camers, 19" flat screen, rolodex, phone, 2 cases of discs (one CD and one DVD), 750 zip drive, codeless mouse (from "Billy"),On top I have an oak case with a ton of computer books. And 2 SLP decals that I'm holding for you.
But on top of my Yamaha speakers, I have a six pack of Panther Beer "Three Stooges" brew. And I don't drink.

Actually, how the fuel gauge works on your Bonneville is just like our GP's. What it probably is: There are little finger-like sensors on your fuel monitor that is in your fuel tank. They slide across the relays and in escence send the info to your fuel gauge. A lot of times, which is actually a problem I am having right now too, is these fingers wear down and don't hit the relays. A mechanic I know here in Fort Wayne, IN tells me that the mechanism costs around $200. So you might want to check it out yourself first to make sure it is the problem, so good luck.

Jeff,
I know you couldn't catch my car with car. What makes you think my car will set still for the first 30 sec. And by the sounds of it, you would either have to bring Cass with you. Or the book, to find out what happens in the next 30 sec. And then it sounds like you might have to stand 2 1/2 in. behind my car.
