Vibration in Steering Wheel ?

Okay I'm brand new to the boards. I just bought a '99 Aurora with 121k miles on it. So far everything works great and it's very clean and looks well kept. The only problem I'm having is steering wheel vibration. It's not bad at all right now, but I don't want it to let it go or else it may get worse. Any help would be much apprectiated.

It could be a wheel requires balancing but can you give more info
Is it at different speeds, when you apply the brakes etc.

need more info, could be a dozen things. does it happen at what sped, any relationship to braking? etc..

My 98 does when creeping along in a parking lot. Seems when the tires begin to wear out, the traction control takes over. Try turning off traction control and see if the problem persists.

Sorry it took so long to reply I had a busy weekend. Okay, the steering wheel seems to vibrate and shimmy more when I'm going around 35-40mph around town. I just got the car last week so I haven't had it out on the highway yet and I don't know if it does this at high speeds too. I noticed when I apply the brakes I do have a slight squeak. I was thinking maybe something with the brakes. I didn't think it was the alignment because I can let my hand off the steering wheel and the car still goes straight.

you've got a bad front tire or it is severely out of balance. if it was a rear, you wouldn't feel it in the steering wheel. any tire shop can check this out for you. Some will even balance it for free

I would start by having the fron tires check,
make sure that the tires are in good condition,
No broken tire belts, tires are balanced,
Even if the tires look in good condition,
they could be out of balance, that would be giving you a bad ride.

If it's not the tires then have your brakes checked, the one major problem that Aurora owners have is warped rotors.

I also have a 1999 Black Aurora.
