Bimmer and Beamer

Okay... I've been arguing with a friend of mine. He says there is no such thing as a Bimmer, only Beamer's. I said that there are 2 types of BMW's, Bimmer and Beamer.! He keeps telling me that I'm crazy for thinking there is such a word as Bimmer! Can someone tell me if I'm crazy or I'm right! Is a Bimmer the car or the motorcycle?

Bimmer is a car, Beamer is a motorcycle. The name "Beamer" comes from the time when BVR was a motorcycle brand, and owners called their bikes "Beavers." In retaliation to this, BMW motorcycle owners called their bikes "Beamers." Not wanting to be left out of the new naming, but wanting to be different from BMW bike owners, BMW car owners started calling their cars "Bimmers." This is the legend as I have heard it. Many people mistakenly call BMW cars "Beamers," because they just dont know the difference.

BMW Car = Bimmer
BMW Motorcycle = Beamer
