Alright so I'm driving back home from poker night, happy cause I won $20 in like 15 minutes (got in late b/c of my damn night class :banghead: ). So I'm heading home, and there's this dude standing in the middle of the street motioning for me to stop (no other cars on the road). So me without thinking, I thought maybe this person needed help (it's right next to the subway metro station). So I stopped in the middle of the street and put my hazards on, and put my passenger window down.
So the guy walks over, and speaks with an accent. He was in his 40s, spanish, short but pudgy, and was probably an immigrant. He puts his arms inside of my car (just left it dangling, wasn't grabbing anything), and says "aye, give me a ride home." And me, realizing I was a dumbass for stopping, said "Uh, where?" So this guy points in the other direction and is like "that way!" This guy had a very demanding voice, wasn't nice at all or anything.
I definetly was not going to go out of my way to help him, and at 1:30 at night he could try to steal my car or do something shady. So I said "Actually, I have to go home." And he then kind of yells out "Take me home! Aye I want to go home!" Then I said "no, I can't I have to go home (kind of choking)" So his arms are still in my car but I let off the brake and it slowly moves. Then he walks in the direction of my car (arms still in the car) as I am slowly going away. As I go a little faster his arms gets out of the car and I accelerate a little faster. I look behind and he starts running after my car. Then I lost him as I go a lil faster, and was gone, saw him walking back to the metro subway station.
I now learn never to stop in the middle of the road for anything, that was some shady shit. Oh and I'm so glad I got my car alarm system installed about a month ago. It instantly locks my car after I start my car. No doubt the guy was trying to get in right away but it was locked, or else he would have been sitting in my car asking me to go in the opposite direction I was going. If that would have happened, I probably would have punched him but I bet he would have had a knife.
Anyways so there's my story, pretty long. Never stop for anyone at nighttime.

I don't trust strangers. And I live in a village with like 5000 people in it. It would have sucked if he stole your car or something.

hahaha that's pretty funny. THat's good that at least he took a step back and said thanks. This dude kept trying to get in but couldn't, and demanded that I drive him to his home. then he ran after my damn car after I was accelerating away :screwy:

hehe..sounds like a mean hitchhiker to me..
I don't know how many times I've been one of these "shady weirdos" trying to hitch hike home from my girlfriends house at the wee hours of the morning...I can just imagine what goes through peoples heads when they see someone hitchhiking that early in the morning..

That's why you should carry a gun, or even fuckin pepperspray.

That would be vehicular manslaughter no matter the circumstances not worth it. The peper spray is the best way to go. So would not stopping or driving with your windows up.

So what have you learned from this experience? Keep pepper spray handy, don't stop for wierdos, and how vulnerable you feel with a guy standing right next to your car? Two types of people out alone that late, cops and criminals.
