ok my friends alternator blew about a week ago.he just got it fixed this morning. he stopped by my house saying that his car felt sluggish. he has a 95' SE i/h/e cams, cam gears, pulleys, valve train, chip.he took me for a ride and it seriously felt like he lost like 15-20hp.... he told me that the shop said that with the new alternator his car may feel alittle bit sluggish for about 100-200 miles... my friend honestly knows nuthing about cars so he jsut thought it was a little suspicious and didnt ask the shop any other questions. thats why he asked me. i told him they prolly took his cams or something, and tryed to play it off..... but i wasnt 100% possitive that what the shop said about the new alternator wasnt true. im more like 98% sure.... so i told him i would figure it out and call the shop for him the next day. so what do you guys think....? i mean if they took his cams they would have had to know that he had nice cams and they would have had something to replace them with..... or does the car really feel slugish for a while.... i mean i coudnt see any reason why it would, their isnt like a break in period or anything....lol

15-20 hp is alot.
What exactly did the shop do? They replaced the alternator with a new remanufactured alternator, or they repaired the old alternator itself?
Remanufactured alternators will never be the same as the original alternator. It will be weaker, though, it should not have a problem with the car losing 15-20 hp, you will however notice that your car will not start up as strong as it did before (no biggy). Since the 15-20 hp cant be exactly measured, you are saying that the car bogs and just doesnt pick up like it used too?
Repairing an alternator with a repair kit shouldnt have much of a noticable difference assuming the parts are oem or oem equivilant. Still shouldnt have a problem with the car bogging.
Hows the chip? What chip is it? How are his belts? codes?
