Well, there seems to be a few building big scale 1/12 kits here so i thought i'd join in and build one myself.
Couldn't beleive my luck when this kit came up for sale at a auction here in New Zealand. :iceslolan
This is one kit i've looked for ages trying to find as its a 1:1 car i'd love to own.
To cut along story short, i won the auction and it arrived today. As soon as i finish the GT-4, this will be next.
The kit is stunning for a older kit. Detail is first class.
I know there is a aftermarket detail set you can buy which i now need to find on the web somewhere!! :sly:
Cant wait to start this as it will be only my second 1/12 kit.
The first one i built years and years ago ended up in the rubbish bin.
Here's a few pics.

I have the exact same kit. I got it a couple of years ago at my hobby shop - didn't realize that it was tough to get.
I have to agree, the kit looks like it will build into an awesome model. I don't dare jump into it, cuz I'll surely ruin it. Gotta build the skilz a bit more!!
Never seen a progress thread on this kit. Looking forward to it!!
PS. - I think you should paint it black, with white stripes!!

Forgot to add this pic.
It gives you an idea on the size. Thinking about building it the same as the smaller 1/25 Camaro.

That blue and white paint scheme would look killer on the 1/12. Im not normally a fan of muscle cars, but that one is gold. Cant wait to see the progress on it. If you dont go blue, try the same orange its moulded in. That would look stellar with the P-Man shine.

I love camaro's. Im going to build my 1/25 Pro Touring style. Have to stole Pug 206 wheels on it. But in 1/12 scale that would be harder. Maybe you have to buy 1/12 Skyline for wheels. Cheap wheels indeed. :)
I find these bigger models interestive because it is easier to build details. Although you have to build more of them.

Nice to see you joining the 1:12 bulding club, are you going for super detail or OOTB, cause that engine will wire up nice. I will be watching this thread without a doubt.

Just remember if you wire it up:
1 8 4 3 6 5 7 2 (firing order)
and the block is numbered
8 7
6 5
4 3
2 1
front of car
If you're going to do it do it right :)

That's a nice kit, and it was pantographed down to make the 1/25 scale version. They both build well right out of the box. Too bad the big one doesn't come with the RS grille though... Someday I'll finish my third 1/12 one I started about 5 years ago with a big block.
And while the firing order listed by 99 civichic is correct, the numbers attributed to the heads are off. Should be all evens on drivers side (Oh sorry, left side of vehicle) and all odds on the other... - Mark

this is will:
Fixed the firing order, i'm pretty sure (it's been a year or so since i've looked however) it's all odds on drivers side and evens on passenger side. I own a 69 camaro right now. Unfortunatly it's not running and when it does will no longer have the oldschool 350 in it (Lt1/t56 now!)

That second set of rims NEARLY look like convo pros.

Started to build the engine and its taken me alot longer then planed so far. The engine halves, oil pan, front, water pump and heads have all been glued together as these parts will be all painted Chev Orange tomorrow. Most parts fitted well apart from a small amount of sanding in places to fit. Heads were the worse as they did not sit down nicely and needed to be sanded on a nice flat surface to get them to sit correctly.
Belt assembly, fan, fan clutch and alternator have been test fitted before painting and yet to be glued.
Manifold well be painted in silver leaf.
Spent most of the time on the carburetors. They needed a good file/sand to remove seem lines before getting a light spray of chrome and a blackwash.
Engine will now be taken apart to be painted and all the detail painting done alone with adding the valve covers, plug wires and exhausts.
So far very happy with the kit. Needing allot more time then I thought to get bits to fit nicely but the detail/end result is good with a bit of time spent on it.
More pics to come later when it is painted etc

Most of the chrome is still very good after all these years.
Its only the bumpers that may need to be done once they are removed from the sprues.
If they need doing I'll try using BMF which will polish up real nice.

If it's the front bumper you could always strip it and paint it body color for the "endura" bumper option!
