It's been a while since the wife's 2000 has had a service so I thought I'd be smart and give it a go myself. I started looking for plug wires, none. No distributor either. I soon realized I was way out of my league. Obviously, this stuff is very electronic. Under the black plastic housings, I see these little square coil looking jobs which I assume are the 'plugs'.

Any input much appreciated. Do they need changed, how much do they cost?

i have a 2000 vitara,4 cyl, 5-speed. the plugs are under the coils. if you remove the coils and look down inside the valve cover you will see the plugs. you will need a faily long extention to get at them. just be careful when putting the coils back on when i had changed my plugs i somehow cracked one.

Thanks man! There is hope! My first impression of those things was an ignition system you'd find on the space shuttle. I'll go ahead and dive in!
