15 tickets?!?! oh FREAKIN CRAP! you guys need to use a little better judgement. i have no idea how you have managed to get 15 tickets by the age of (i dunno 21). I don't mean to sound derogatory, but i'm just baffled by some people who have received tickets into the double digits within the first few years of having their license.
Not to say i'm blamless, i've had my share. Just 3 actually, from age 17-19, all on U.S. 75 between Dallas and Sherman. After the third (they were all for speeding), i got fed up and was like crap! i'm gonna get a freakin Radar detector, i hate doing all that mumbo jumbo bullcrap to get the ticket off my record. Since i've gotten my Solo S2, no tickets, and its saved me many many many times. The radar detector has well enough paid for itself, several times over. But still, i have to be prudent about when adn when not to speed. Just b/c you have a radar detector, doens't mean i can't get tickets.
but i highly recommend the Solo S2 by Passport!

I was gonna ask about that, I need a radar fuzz buster!
I have heard that the crap you can get at radioshack and bestbuy are no good and that they really dont pick up on radar guns. so the Solo II you say. cool, how much do they run for?

a bit pricey, but its well worth it: a quality product from a trusted name brand with result, not some knock-off that doens't detect radar or has a million false positives.
retail price for the Solo S2 is about $339, but i got mine for around 275. my bro got a Escort Passport 8500 (basically same as Solo S2, except not cordless) for about 180. Just search on e-bay to find a good deal.

You guys really need to think about where and when you're going to break the law. I've had two tickets (20 years on the road) and I know I ignore speed limit signs like everyone else. Unless you have a specific reason to blow the speed limit like the flow of traffic or wholely empty road, lighten up on the gas pedal. You don't have to show your the fastest car on the road all the time.
Insurance companies will eat you alive for a decade with ticket counts like that (especially in our cars).

Well getting in the double digits for tickets is easy. For one I just didn't give a crap about speed limits. I still don't but i've learned HOW and WHEN to speed, and what to do when theres a cop. Two i've only owned sports cars that attract cops like flies on sh*t. I think I have a cop follow me for no reason at least 3 times a week. But i'm done getting tickets for a while, no more goin +10 over the speed limit.

My first actual ticket was for 35 over lol, I could have sworn it was a 55 zone lol. I never see cops on highways around here, so no radar detector will help me.

Also check out valentine1 radar detectors, I love mine, just wish I had it in my truck last night. I had a small run in with the cops. I had been drinking earlyer but waited a few hours before I left the party. On the way home I passed a cop doing about 20 over and he whipped a U. I managed to outrun him then feed him a bullshit story when he came to my house 15 min later.
Now I know, bad judgement when speeding after drinking. But knowing that I would loose my license if I was pulled over with alcohol on my breath(im 20) I saw no downside to running, and that is why I did it.

I think that radar detectors are great for in the day, but when it's night time out, and your speeding, cops dont put their radar on. They sit and watch for cars that they know are going to fast, and then they follow them. This happened to my friend and I while we were driving. A cop followed us for like 3 miles while we were doing 15 over and when he knew he was going to pull us over he turns his radar on and my friends detector starts going crazy. Turns out the cop is right behing us and we and he catches us going 14 over and make 4 illegal lane changes. I guess what I'm trying to say is be more careful at night, even if you do have a radar detector.

if the cop pulled you over, having followed you for a good 3 miles, while speeding, then you deserve to get the ticket. did you think to check the rearview mirror? obviously radar detectors don't keep you from getting tickets, you have to react to the warnings, and just be smart. if you made all those illegal lane changes, i can't believe you didn't see someone behind you making those same lane changes (illegal or not). I don't mean to rag on you, but ya, i totally agree, at night we gotta be extra careful and use our vision (to what extent it has diminished in the dark) to watch for cops.... But we should ALWAYS watch for cops, regardless of whether we have detectors or not. ya man, sorry bout the ticket, that sux.

This wasnt a police chase, I went by him the opposite direction and then I floored it. After I lost him over the horizon I shut my lights off. he showed up at my house 10-15 min later. He never caught up, and I was on a county border. I was on the only road he can take without turning his cherrys on. I had a vehicle in my drivway that was warm. He had no proof and didnt even know what kind of vehilce passed him or what dirrection it went. All of which I got him to admit to while talking to him.

He saw a large white vehicle, which narrowed it down to me and my 2 nieghbors, my truck was still warm. So he came to my door. Other than that he had nothing.

My fear is not the cop cars, cuz I can usually see them a mile away and react. It's the little motorcycles. You can't see them. They will get on the opposite side of the interstate, the other side of the concrete barriers, pull out the gun and barely have their head sticking up, shooting people with the radar. You go a half mile down the road and it's 10 cop cars pulling cars over for speeding. And you never see it coming. If you have a radar detector and they aren't clocking someone (pulling the trigger), it won't pick it up. The cars' mounted guns are always on, so you'll always get a signal from them.

ya, the thing to watch out for is LASER!!! when the Laser warning goes off on your radar, your basically screwed b/c its too late to slow down, he's already got you. The Laser detection systems works only if the cop has a straight line of sight between the radar gun and you, which means he's got you speeding. My Laser warning went off once, and the radar detector sounded like it was crapping its pants or something, it was an ungodly noise of every bell and whistle hooting and hollering. luckily, 1) i saw what i thought was an unusual person parked next to a concrete barrier and was slowing down and 2) there happened to be a car exactly between me adn the cop when i passed him and the Laser warning went off. Oh, and it was also at the very END of this huge construction zone on the highway. Sooo cheap, i hate it when they do that. But nontheless, he didn't pull me over...i was SOO lucky that day.
So when the Laser warning goes off (as compared to K, KA, or X band warnings), your basically screwed. UNLESS you spend about $1000 on an Early Laser Detection System.
Happy Speeding!

cars radar detectors are not always on, they can be turned on and off just the guys on the bikes. and just like the cars the bikes can cruse around with them constantly on.
radar jammers are illegal because it is a radio frequency that is owned by the government. lazer jammers are perfectly legal as the FCC does not control light transmisions.

ya the cops might be stupid, but they called other deparements to find any kind of reason to write you up for a violation. also, they're just trying to scare you most of the time with a bunch of talk talk talk. its fine to adopt the "stupid cop" mentality, but being polite with the pigs can only help you.

Woo, speeding? I've had my fair share....umm, most recent....3 weekends ago, I was driving back to augusta GA, from atlanta. It was about 10:00pm at night, open interstate road, speed limit....70mph
I had my cruise control set on about 75mph, and this banana yello nissan altima went flying past my like it was nothing. I was like *&%^! how fast is he goin? So I caught up with him around 90mph, and he decided to go even faster....I turned off my neons to not attract so much attention and continued to keep up with him. Moving slightly ahead and slightly behind him, playing around.... :)
somewhere around 135mph blue lights show up and I was like oh %$@! The altima instantly hit his breaks, and his bright red lights lit up the area as I just continued doin about 140mph to the next exit ramp....stopped at a nearby gas station for about 5 mins, and got back on the interstate only to "slowly" drive by the altima and the cop. hehe
stupid yes, but a rush non the less.....just don't plan on doing it again anytime soon..... Woo
