Pretty soon i will be installing Crower valves and a Crower cam. Should i take any serious pre-caution before doing this. I will be installing it at in my garage with my dad. Any tips would be appreciated.
I have a d16y7 engine non-vtec. anyone know if they make that application?

I know they make it for the dohc non/vtec, but I'm not sure about the sohc. Crower is the best for the dohc non/vtec if it matters.

Crower only produces cams for SOHC VTEC motors. You can send in your stock cams for a regrind though.

What company makes a cam for a non vtec sohc?? But what about the valves??

I can only assume this was a misprint. Crower makes camshafts for the DOHC VTEC/nonVTEC motor. I know the model number for the non/VTEC stage two's is 62403-2!
My bust, I'm thinking about the B18 engine.

he has a SOHC non-VTEC motor, they only make cams for SOHC VTEC motors. You seem to misread a lot of shit that is posted on here.
I didn't say that they didn't make cams for DOHC motors.

Oh my god. Millions of parts fora honda, but no valve springs for a non-vtec. Great auto industry. So i guess i only have one choice left, go oem with the valve springs :(

they make titanium retainers for your motor...

Sorry to ask this stupid querstion, but what will that help me with?
GScivic7
10-29-2004, 04:22 PM
you could have stronger spring retainers...I just posted that so you wouldn't feel to bad about not having any valvetrain parts available for your car :icon16:

You have any idea how much it would cost for me to swap in a d16y8???
GScivic7
10-29-2004, 04:28 PM
Motor itself shouldn't cost more than $3-500. Anymore than that and you are getting ripped off cause $500 is on the high side.

Got any website links to the swap?? How much more $$ for extra parts, etc..
GScivic7

no links for a swap, but all you need is a longblock. Your tranny will work with it and everything. Oh, you do need a VTEC ecu, forgot about that, and to wire it up for VTEC, but thats it. The only extra parts you might need are things like timing belt, water pump, new plugs and wires, basic tune up parts because you don't know how long the motor has been sitting.

Hopefully this ist he last question. Got any websites that are reliable and good prices?
GScivic7
10-29-2004, 04:58 PM
only reliable one i know is www.hmotorsonline.com but they don't have any D-series motors listed on the site. If you call they may have some though. I called them about a B18A tranny and they actually had one in stock even though it wasn't listed on the site.

I might just go to my local shop and order it their. I think it would be safer to buy from my shop, having to pay after it was delivered.

You seem to misread a lot of shit that is posted on here.
Why the hostility?
I didn't misread anything. Your exact words, "Crower only produces cams for SOHC VTEC motors." This tells everyone they don't produce any other cams. Perhaps you should have said, "The only SOHC cam crower produces is a VTEC cam." Read your post again. I'm trying to make sure your not misunderstood! How come no one is mature enuf to say "I made a mistake"?

PS, I hear regrinds are terrible!

he has a SOHC non VTEC motor, so I stated they only make cams for SOHC VTEC motors, how hard is that to understand, unless you are a total dipshit. I didn't make a mistake so there's no point in saying I did.

Tipical!
If a member of the forum has a LS swap in there hatch and there looking for a good set of cams, would they go to crower after reading your statement. No, because (read below)

Truth is, Crower makes a great set of cams fort the b18b, but because some one valued your opinion as a senior member, they'll never know. I know what you were thinking, but your grammer didn't reflect your thoughts. You don't have to tell me you made a mistake, I know you did!
PS, if anyone does have a LS swap, Crower makes 62403-2. Great cams!

Try an engine swap. B18C1,B18C5,B16(SI motor), or H22 would be great for modding but it seems your engine is sort of crappy to mod.

y not just get the head and a vtec controler. Leave your engine in.
By the y8 -- build it up -- install with vtec?
I assumes you have a D16 now.

:disappoin dont gat a vtec controller.
find yourself a y8 head and work on it on a table. itll be sooooo much easier than doing it when its on your engine. and by upgrading the cam, springs, valves...etc. you'll get a very nice boost of power from the y7 head.
