bad experiences with turbo?

Has anybody had any serious problems with a turbo on the cavalier. I've been looking into putting a turbo kit on my 2.2 but im worried about just destroying the motor. the car has 60k on it now. would i be destroying my motor running say 7p.s.i.? I just want a little more "get-up" any suggestions would be great.

2.2 ahs no mass air flow sensor so the addition of a turbo will be very problematic.

^ if so, then when is there a butt load of people with them? If they were problem matic, people wouldn't bother with them. While i can think of 10 people right now off the top of my head with them.
Personally i will say i don't know much about boosting cars with turbo or superchargers but i am workin on that, so my friend i would look into J-body.org that site will be more helpful then this one, this one is too vague... for the money, personally i wouldn't bother, if you want to screw around and stay somewhat safe. Buy a Nitrous oxide kit..when properly used, its great fun!

ill second that nitrious tip.. although, with nitrous you are going to pay everytime you use it, whereas a turbo, you only pay that fee once.. in EITHER case, there is that possibility that you will end up paying for more shit that you wear out

Buy a supercharger less problems with it and easyer to install.

Anything is possible with enough money and time. So I am sure a lot of people have done it. That does not make it cheap or easy. Just wanted this person to understand what they were getting into. I too would suggest a Nitrous oxide kit. A lot of fun without as much trouble or expense.

Ah i love the people on here who know what they are talking about and there isn't arguments over pointless crap!...Nitrous trips are fun ;).. yea and everytime a bottle needs to be filled its around 50 bucks up here in NY... on more thing bud... when running No2 there cannot be anymore cheap trips to the pump buyin 87 octane.. has to be 93 or higher and you cannot go back below that either or your engine will begin to knock. So thats just some more brain knowledge. I believe it applys for turbo and superchargers aswell.... the choice is yours!... but as always do it safely!

This engine is pretty light on the bottom end so your not going to do much before it gets fairly expensive. In the long run it would be a lot cheaper to use another car.

I don't doubt you. Thats why i said i love posting with people you know what they are talking about. Your one of the few on here who do know. It makes forums run alot smoother...how'd the eclipse run btw..?

I think alot of people know this. But if they didn't they do now. It is the reason why most people mount them in the trunk. Having A-pillar guage pods are illegal too, there isn't suppose to be lights above the dash or for other cars to be able to see them becuase its a distraction. But people still do it. Along with neon underbodies, loud aftermarket exhausts, blue colored headlights, black out headlight covers. e.t.c.... you get the idea... but when you ask most people.. they just really don't give a flyin F&^K...But if you ever get questioned buy cops, you can simply tell them that its for strickly track use only. Unless the see you purge or somthing and then they watch you act like a 16yr old and race a civic down the road... then your screwed... just some useful info...and my :2cents:

Everythings illegal in new york, its a bunch of bullshit if you ask me. rollcages are, even to have a nitrous bottle in your car, hooked up or not.. My friend with his 99 SI had a empty nitrous bottle in it and the cop confinscated it (sp?).. He took him to court over it and got his stuff back but still.. bullshit.

We installed a nice Ripp Mods kit. It did pretty well. Considering we had to dial it down, due to not being able to get large enough fuel injectors (its a mitsu). There are now some units that are big enough so we will be reaching its full potential as soon as the owner get some more cash.

Just remember the first rule of hot rodding:
