Anyone ever seen this before?

I think i have some debris in my combustion chambers, and i also believe my timing belt has slipped. if i change the plugs, they get smashed almost instantaneously

yea looks like something is busting up the plugs, like u said crap in the combustion chamber, also is that oil on that plug?

You sure you have the right part# for the plugs?

A slipped timing belt could cause the pistons to hit the valves, but don't the spark plugs pretty much stay in the same place all the time? You have the wrong plugs. Check the VECI sticker or your owner's manual for the proper part number. I believe they list a couple of Japanese brands, but you could easily cross-reference their part numbers.

I agree with the others about the wrong plugs, but it looks like your engine is running too rich also. There must be something wrong. There could be a lot of things that cause the engine to run rich, but it shouldn't be a costly problem. Better take your car to the mechanic and find out what it is.

It's more likely that using the wrong plugs are why you see the black buildup. They could be the wrong heat range, and of course aren't going to reliably light off the mixture that well with such a small plug gap. I doubt he's actually running rich.

Well i've been running the plugs for more at least 6 months now i suppose, and it wouldn't be running rich, think about it. W/ no electrode there's not gonna be any spark, so the fuel is not going to be burnt more than likely.

ur plugs are too long. your smashing them when they are installed. they are burnt looking because you have heat to the plug but they aren't transfering the energy because of the gap being .000. re-check your specs for your engine type and put in the right set of plugs.

no i don't think so because if they were too long this would happen right away, and this only happens to my # 1 and 2 cylinder plugs (two sets which have not been smashed when they have been installed since i have set them down with one of those springy part grabbers) Also my engine smashed the ones the guys at the dealership put in (stock NGKs) i do believe that i had some debris in my combustion chambers, but i do believe that i have since blown it out my exhaust valves, i'm going to tear off the head anyways. They look burnt because in those two combustion chambers it is too rich since the fuel is not properly ignited via the spark plug

Well why didn't you say that in the first place? If it's only happening in two of the 4 cylinders, you have a clearance problem that's not based on plug length. Anything that's solid enough to smash a plug electrode isn't getting blown out through the exhaust easily, you need to tear down the motor and find out what the problem is.

If those are the right plugs, check this out.
Did you mill the head or block a bunch?
Has somebody messed with the depth of the plug holes?
Is the motor making a knocking noise?
Maybe you better look into the rod bearings. They might be gone!
