i recently sold . in the middle of a frame off project an 502 cubic inch 81 malibu. my weaknes for mopar just got the best of me. i have been looking at a lot of 383 but im more interested in 440mag....440 6 pack...i have considered 426 . i consider the 426 the best engine ever put out. although you need a sizeable bank account to keep one of these fussy engines in tune. also a 440-6 will hook in almost if not as fast as a 426 till about 60-70 after that the 440 is toast. anybody out there that can provide me with any experiene with these motors........also the 383. for street..no strip.....thanks

440 Magnum. Best of the three for a street car. Hemi cars don't hook up without BIG slicks. Too much power. A hemi only understands one throttle position, WIDE OPEN...
6-Pack engines have heavier rods in them, and are a bitch to keep the carbs in sync. The Magnum didn't have rod problems, so the 6-Pack rods are massive overkill.
Forget the 383. Never send a boy to do a man's job! My 400 Ram Air GTO never got beat by a 383, nore a 6-Pack. I got embarrassed pretty good one night by a '69 GTX with a Magnum in it.
