Well, if you like the CRX, get a CRX
If you like the hatch, get a hatch.
Or am I missing something here??

its all depends..

crx is a 2 seater..possibly good, possibly bad
crx is sports car insurance so keep that in mind.

motor really isn't an issue because you can put the same type of motors in both cars, although the CRX is a little lighter.

He must have missed a few letters while typing or something  . Anyway, I am in a similar dilemma. I am in love with the CRX, but the problem is, where I live, CRXs are just really hard to come by. They are even harder to find for less than 3000. I also like the 4g Civic HB, but not as much as the CRX. Unlike the Rex, the Civic is easy to find in the 1-2k price range. For my first car, I am not sure if I want to save the extra couple grand and buy the CRX or just go for a Civic hatch. :(

I'd suggest taking each one for a test drive. Buy which ever one you like best. I'm partial to the CRX.

Didn't mean to start a fight or anything....  . I like the looks of the CRX much better, its just the extra one or two thousand dollars that kills me. ZC's will bolt right up to a 4g Civic just like they do to the CRX right?

 come get some!! :rocket:
:D

ok, seriously
REX: tiny bit faster, higher insurance costs
HATCH: more room, cheaper
Looks is personal, if your budget allows it, get whatever you like best.

Well about the insurance part...i only pay 50 bucks a month full coverage?

Ok, where I'm at Rexes are more expensive in insurance, I just assumed that was also the case in the US. Guess not. 50$ is not much, I pay that for basic insurance + theft (I dunno what's that called in the US)

The only way rex's are faster is based on the engines. We had the ZC only rex which was 30bhp over the GL SOHC.

Yet put a ZC in both and the Civic is lighter and marginally quicker with more torsional chasis regidity than the rex (look at the difference in hatches and you'll see why. Civic and Rex SiRs weigh the same and there's nothing in them according to Honda.

Well according to Euro Honda brochures the CRX versions are a bit lighter than the hatches.
The Euro CRX SiR does 0-100km/h in 7.2s, top speed 222km/h
The Euro hatch SiR does 0-100km/h in 7.3s top speed 208km/h
The Euro CRX SiR is 30kg lighter. Also the CRX has better aerodynamics so it actually is a bit faster, not much but there is a difference.

Yeah, I know that the Euro CRX is faster... but let's face it, they're not real SiRs are they? J/K :D

Over here the Civic is lighter than the CRX even though both came with power everything and A/C standard. JDM Spec Si and SiR CRXs and Civics have the same power output. I'm not that up on the USDM market, but you'd have to assume that if they have the same engine in both then the speeds would be comparable. But I understand the USDMs didn't have the same level of equipment that the EDM and Aussie Civics and CRXs had, so that might be the reasoning.
