I have a 2001 grand am se coupe. I bought it 6 months old with 27000 miles on it, should have been a sign right there.. I have replaced so many things its not even funny.. Its now at 59000 mi. And I have a few problems that have appeared and I am clueless and could use some pointers.
Thanks!
1. Everything starts fine, then a milisecond later all electric shuts off. doors unlock. windows wont opperate, radio shuts off, all lights shut off. This has continued any where from 2 seconds to up to 3 minutes one time. It will do it continually for a couple days, then stop, and start up again. It has been doing this for a month. Sometimes the service engine light comes on, sometimes not. I used to think it was a faulty start/kill switch on my alarm.. but its getting worse so I dont think thats it any more.
2. There is a weird, whiny rattling schreechy mic type noise, that sounds like its coming from the center or passenger side, it worsens when accelerating.
3. When idle (takes no more than 2 min max) the temp gauge gets almost to the 1/4 mark before the red zone, even at night when its cold out.
I am clueless about cars and in desprate need of pointers here.. Please help!
Thanks!

Boy, I'd swear that this has been in some sort of accident or something. Could be something simple like a bad ground or major like bad BCM.

the electrical gremlin is probably the BCM, it's a known problem in those cars. The screechy noise may be a bad belt tensioner or idler pulley. the overheating problem could be a sticking thermostat or a bad water pump, which could also cause the screech you described if the bearing is bad and it's leaking coolant.
