I just purchased a 95 metro with a 1.3 and auto trans. This is my first metro, so I am just learning about them. What is the easiest way to change the engine? I would appreciate any and all help. Thanks

I'd imagine the easiest way would be to seperate the tranny from the engine, and just lift the engine out using an engine hoist. The transmission comes out easier from the bottom, but the engine comes out easier from the top.

Pull em both. Trying to pull one at a time on an auto is almost impossible. You're bound to damage something pulling one at a time. They're in there too tight to seperate on an auto.

i agree with geozuck, did a motor swap on a 97 and it was fairly easy to pull engine and tranny out the top as a unit then reasemble new motor to tranny on the floor. also removing battery tray makes it a lot easier. would also sugest replace from tranny seal before you put it back together

I guess I should read the whole post first. I didn't realize it was an auto :)

I just pulled the motor on my 95 1.3 auto and it was a piece of cake. I did have the front of the motor apart due to a missing crank bolt damaging the crank so I took the front apart to inspect the damage.
