Help! My truck shuts-off, really easy when you first start engine.. You start again and it dies again!
Sometimes Hazitates to start.
What can I do???
This problem started just a few days ago, after starting vehicle in the morning.. It just turned off, all lights turned off too, then engine lights came on.
I started engine right away, But. dies easy, unless you gass it.
At first, it was just once in a while, NOW... Vehicle turns off more often, even when engine fully warm.
Now: Car does not turn on as easy, and it dies without warning all!!
I can be driving it on the road, and it turns off in the middle of traffic,
leaving me in the middle of road when this happens. After this occurs.. The car usually won't start for about a minute or two, then starts, and then it dies just as fast. Becomming very difficult to re-start again. It seems to me that this happens more often as the truck's engine iddles down to normal speed, like: 'when I come to a stop at a traffic light".
ANYONE KNOWS WHAT THIS MAY BE??? NEED HELP!
THANKS!
Sometimes Hazitates to start.

Well to me it sounds like 1 thing thats the problem, but there could be different problems to that 1 problem, let me explain.
The problem sounds like the engine is not getting enough gasoline.
to fix that problem, there are many things that can be causing the engine not to get enough gasoline. 1) when was the last time the fuel filter was changed? that might be the problem. 2) the O2 sensor might be malfunctioning, running the engine extremely rich, causing it to drown, or too poor causing it to not have enough fuel. 3) The fuel injectors might be too clogged to send gas through. I suggest starting with those possible factors, before going on to something else.

Fuel filter will not cause an engine to shut down.
Trust me here, it is the black ignition switch box in the under part of the steering column.
But I guess you should change the filter if it has never been changed.

After doing a little more reading here and some research in other sites... I think you are right! I think the IGNITION SWITCH is the cause! I am going to replace the IGNITION SWITCH assembly which I found at http://www.buyautoparts.com/ and http://www.partsamerica.com/
For under $80. The same part can be puchased at the GM site for $129. I am posting a thread to the IGNITION SWITCH image, so. People with the same problem can see what it is all about. and also, to help others tell me if it is the right part?

I thank you so much for all your help so far. I will keep you posted.
Thanks!

But I guess you should change the filter if it has never been changed.
according to a very popular mechanic on TV & newspaper, a fuel filter can cause engines to shut down. either way, it was the ignition switch and that solved the problem, BUT i would still recommend the fuel filter be changed since they hadn't changed it for a while. :naughty:
