pollishing wheels (mine are dull looking)

i have a set of eagle alloys on my camaro, they are shiny from a distance, but they look dull and milky or cloudy looking. i have been using mothers. it seemed to bring out the shine a little. but is there any thing better. im using like a billit polish, should i be using something different. and im using the liquid kind. a lot of people says the blue coral rim polish is better. is that true?

Are the rims clear coated?

well id guess. if they are then that was done buy the company that made them. why?

If your wheels are clear coated and you have been using "metal polish" on them then that's why they are dull looking.

In other words you have scratched the clear coating with the abrasive metal polish. Now you need to use a paint polish, an abrasive one, perhaps with a drill and polishing bonnet, and begin to buff out your wheels one by one.

If they can be brought back then wax them and now all you need to do is use car wash and water plus a soft wheel brush or sponge to wipe them out. Wax every 4 to 5 weeks.

thanks dude, i got me a polishing bonnet and my drill out and did what you said, it took a while but i done all 4, and dude they look like the day i had them mounted on the car.

Available through our site.

there is a kit you can buy that removes the clear coat & then you just polish the bar aluminum wheels & leave them like that, or you can re-apply the clear coat. i did this to a old set of aluminum wheels & they look like new now. the clear coats usually suck because salt & debris usually gets under the coatng, & corrodes the aluminum wheels resulting in pits in the surface. it tends to crack & dull over time anyway. on my car which i ordered new fully equipped, a 2001 saturn sc2, i purposely didn't get the aluminum wheels for that reason & stuck with the steel wheels....
