Check Engine light *RESET ?

How would i reset the ECM to clear the Check enging light ?

I had the fuel pump replaced yesterday drove home ( didnot get any gas) truck is on E. when i started it this morning hte check engine light came on....

What i want to do is fill it up ( maybe add some fuel cleaner/octane booster) and clear the light and se what happens...

have u checked the CODE to see what it was?

no i dont have the tools to do that...

was figuring it was form the change out n stuff.. just want to reset it and see what happens...

Hi, try disconnecting battery ground cable for 5 min. if that don't work do the key on-off-on- off-on to see what the code is. Dale

i am a little confused

turn the Key ON, - Off-On-OFF then ON again and leave it on, the check engine light will come on then go off and a few seconds later it will start blinking count the blinks, there will be 2 separate blinking sequences for each code for instance

\ pause \ \ = 12

code 12 - power was lost to the PCM withint the alst 50 ignition cycles (battery was disconnected).

\ = CHECK ENGINE light flashes

for example if the PCM doesn't have any codes this is how it willl read

Pause, Pause, Pause, Pause

\ \ \ \ \ pause \ \ \ \ \

code 12 and code 55
55-= end of fault codes.

I hope this helps and isn't that confusing, the best way I have found to do it is to get a paper and pen and make a slash for each CHEKC ENGINE light flash, and then a break in between each digit, then move onto the next one.

if this is confusing, just let us know I will try to sum it up more, and make it easier

so i ma just going to go dis. neg batery cable.. fill er up and do some serious driving to today ... will post later and let you guys know what happens

ok well if the only 2 codes that came up was 12 and 55, then the COmputer didn't store any codes.

it was prolly only Codr 55, if u haven't d/c'd the battery in awhile then 12 wouldn't come up.

12 - power to the PCM was lost within the last 50 ignition Cycles (Starts).

55 - End of fault codes.

21 is an O2 sensor or circuit .... i replaced the o2 last week ... any thoughts ? and how do i clear the 12 ?

the 12 will clear on it's own, just don't d/c the battery
after about 50 starts it iwll go away

i did repalce the first O2 sensor last week ( between cat & eng.)

yes its been on for the past 2 days..

check to see if whats un plugged ? the o2 sensor .. it am 99% sure it is..

it did nt come on after it was repalced unelss it came unplugged...

just the negative cable ?

i tried that ..

it was off all day after driving went to start it the next morning and the light came on...ARE THESE STORED ?

should i let it go for @ 50 starts and see if it clears. ?


the coldes i posted above are waht it gave the secondtime .. friday morinng...havnt done aynthing with it since and it drives fine.

Hi, if the code keeps coming up there could be something wrong. Check the wiring on the oxygen sensor , it could be burnt or frayed somewhere. Check around exhaust manifold and the front driveshaft. Dale
