FronT Bracking Grinding Noise

Could use some advice on this. Have 01 Malibu with 52K mi. Had a front brake job about one month ago. Since then, I get a slight grinding noise when I come to a stop. Car Brakes OK though. Had it checked where I had the work done as I wanted to make sure everything was OK. I was told All OK in the front but the back wheel cylinders are starting to leak slightly and the front brakes are doing most of the braking creating a glaze on the rotors which accounts for the grind noise. Bottom line, suggested I replace the cylinders, brake shoes and bleed brakes. Cost $>300. Any thoughts on this? In reading this forum, I am aware of all the other issues with this model. Is it time to shake this vehicle loose?

Sometimes people place a plate on the back of the brake pad. If this comes loose, it will cause a grinding sound.

Well I would sure love to do this for my car. Did it also cover the ABS? What are the steps and how did you do it?

or just take it to another shop and get a second opinion. Brake shops are notorious for ripping people off around my town.
