The b18c1 because it has more torque. Stock tranny is good, you could change it out for the Type R tranny that comes with closer gearing and stock LSD. The LSD alone will help you get better traction from a stop.

GSR civicspoon is correct.

The reason I say get the GS-R tranny is because the early Integra Type R ('96-'97) have the same gear ratio as the B16a and Civic Type R. And the GS-R tranny has slightly higher gearing so you won't have to shift quite as much. The other option is the LS tranny that has the longest gears, but it will suck for acceleration when you're at the track; but be good for cruising and for gas mileage. So I figure go with the one in between (GS-R) for good acceleration and decent gearing for crusing. And it also had an option for LSD as well.

b18c1 or b16a(sir2) and why
GScivic7

b18C1, it has oil squirters and a block girdle. Makes it a little safer to boost. The best thing to do would use a B18C block with a B16A head. That's basically a poor man's Type R motor there.

should i replace the internals on the b18c1

yes and yes to that.
even though you run less PSI on it it'll make more WHP then a LS boosting at the 2 or so more PSI they can take.
i'm doing poormans type R allmotor cause i'm teh sex.
how much $$$ and what are you goals depend on if you want to replace insides.

5 grand I want 300hp 250tq what about the stock axles u think the can take it
Ace$nyper
10-27-2004, 04:45 PM
i'd rather not find outh the hard way with stock axles but i've seen stock guts GSRs push 300WHP before.
god forbid i can find you dnyo graphs to back it up sorry mate.
Tuning thicker headgasket good turbo set up and tuning good exhaust set up.
*i know tuning is listed 2 times thats cause its important enough to repete.*

what would you guys do with 5 grand
GScivic7
10-27-2004, 05:22 PM
if you only have 5g's, swapping a GSR and doing a turbo kit will be really difficult. Unless you find great deals on both and do all the work yourself. It would be more realistic with a B18B swap and boost.

i can get the gsr for 2800
GScivic7
10-27-2004, 08:30 PM
is that the complete swap and installed or are you able to do the work yourself?
wako528

complete swap (ex.ecu, axles, tranny, intake, exhast, dist, even the battery)my friend is selling to to me maybe for 2500 if not then 2800. Going to install myself
GScivic7
10-28-2004, 12:44 PM
still, 2200 isn't much for a good turbo kit. You could put together a junkyard one for that much easy, but if you want a really nice kit capable of about 500 hp, you'll want to spend around $3000, that's for all the parts, electronics, and tuning it.
wako528
10-28-2004, 12:48 PM
i could save the 2200 untill i get like 3500 to go turbo

nice! my friend is giving me the front bumper and lights would the beable to fit my 92 dx
GScivic7

Integra front bumper and lights? they won't work without the entire front end. even then the 3rd gen integras fronts always looked funny on 5th gen civics. The nose seems to dip down. Search for some pics on google and you'll see what i'm talking about.

well he is basically giving my the hole car is a jdm integra rhd but the hole rear is smashed and seat are gone so what parts could I use for my civic
wako528
10-28-2004, 01:05 PM
no wheels
GScivic7
10-28-2004, 01:06 PM
hmmm...would have been nice to have the seats lol. If you want, you can just do the entire front end conversion, looks really funny to me, but you might like it. It seems like the only things that are really worth using is the motor and tranny.

what about the instrument panel and the steering wheel
GScivic7
10-28-2004, 01:11 PM
Instrument panel and steering wheel yes. Is the instrument panel marked in MPH at all? If not I wouldn't use it. Steering wheel might need an adapter hub to fit, but I'm not entirely too sure.
