I have a 2002 Mustang GT with the Mach 460 6 disc in dash changer, I want to install an aftermarket stereo and subwoofer. Does anybody have any suggestions for getting around the 2 factory amps in the trunk? Do I have to rewire the entire system or can I use some of the existing wires? Im assuming I have to find the speakerwires at the harness that connects to the amps? Any suggestions anyone? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hard wiring directly to the speakers is the best route. With this method you can maintain the integrity of the factory system for possible re-installation. If you retain the stock options this may facilitate better resale in the future as well.

Good:
Use existing wiring (from amp harness to speakers)
Better:
Run wire to doors/speaker locations and leave OE wiring alone.

I hope this helps a little. I currently manage a 12V store and have over 14 years experience installing car audio.
