my friend just bought 66 mustang from some old dude who had given up on it, or just didnt have time for it. its in ok condition, the interior is pretty clean, but the guy covered ed paint with primer and there are some semi-deep scratches, not to the metal, but i guess he'll have to sand them out.
im helpin him out on this project, pieces of the body are off (bumper and all logos and lights n stuff) so pretty much he bought a really nice engine (302 thats sounds soooo sweet lol ) and a not so nice body. we just wanted to konw how to get started on this and what materials were goin to need.
and\y help is much appreciated, thanks

Any pics? I do metalwork so I maybe able to help. Right now this sounds like a fabrication project. Would you mind if I moved it to the fabrication forum?

I like to sand it down do bare, slap on an epoxy sealer/primer to prevent rust, and then use bodyfiller.

I'm not so sure about real cars, but on my die-cast models, I lather on the paint thinner, and wrap everything in saran wrap, leave it overnight, it works pretty well, the paint sands right off

That method with the seran wrap is called laquer lifting. It turns the laquer into putty lol nice good suggestion.
