I have a keyless entry remote for my civic that has just recently malfunctioned. Yes, I do have an after market cd player in my car but that was installed correctly and the remote worked like a charm after that was put in. But one day just recently, I looked down at my remote and the led light was on that lights up when a button is depressed. I couldn't get it to turn off. I wasn't pushing any buttons and I did not recently push any buttons. It was just on. I tried taking the battery out and putting it back in and it didn't do anything. I haven't gotten the remote wet at all. I was just in my house and my keys were on my desk lit up! As you can assume, it drained my battery and if I'm going to play around with this thing, I have to go get a new batt. My assumption is that this remote short curcuited some how. Does anyone know what my options are now? Can I take it in to honda and will they fix it? Should I get a new one? If I get a new one on ebay or somehting, how much to reprogram it? Should I get an aftermarket remote instead of stock? I dont' care for an alarm, I'm just lazy in locking my door and want to use a button. I'm certain its the remote that is faulty and not the receiver on the car. Any advice from anyone would be much apreciated!

It sounds like maybe your button just plain wore out. See if the dealer would cover a replacement. If you buy one from the dealer, they will program it for you.

You can get a new one on ebay for $10 or so. Just make sure you get the right one for your car.
