Finally!!!
My long awaited Mustang is finally secured...
http://img21.exs.cx/img21/3710/12399.jpg
I bought this bad boy through eBay in an auction that ended today.
It is a 1999 Mustang GT (Year I wanted)
Manual Trans (Trans I wanted)
Black (Color I wanted)
Mach460/Leather (Exactly as I wanted)
I am so glad I finally have a stang to my name. I will be picking it up Saturday Morning, so all I can offer now is one of the pictures supplied with the auction.

Congratulations!!!
Have fun, but drive safely.
Owning a GT Mustang is like owning a handgun...
(1) Be careful where you aim that thing,
(2) Always use two hands. :naughty:

Lol...i kinda have to with manual :P
As for my plans, im not sure. It really was a breakthrough for me since I Have been saving for a while, so I cant do anything major off the bat. I wanted to save and do a turbo project, so during the time that I am happy with it being stock, I am going to get to know alot of people knowledgable on the install, parts, ect, and also look into companies providing the pre-bent piping, ect. If I decide this is way to much to even save up for...then eBay S/C here I come! However like I said, for a while ill be happy with stock.

It's a GT for sure. The 99 model had the 35th anniversary edition emblem on the side. Notice that the pony has a ring around it and on the ring it says "35th year" or something like that. I have a 1:35 model of a 99 so I know this.
Oh HighRev, congrats with the car man. I know you'll have a blast with that thing!

Indeed.
And as for the hood scoop, I think it is 01+ that has the higher hood scoop, in fact I think it is a functioning ram air. Not to sure though, I really focused on the 99 year during my search for first year of 260hp mark, and financial reasons :).
Thanks for the congratz guys. It is driving me nuts that I cant have it until Saturday....every day feels soooo long.

No the only Mustang that has the functional ram air is the 2003-2004 Mustang Mach 1 with the "shaker Hood"....The hood scopps on all other Stangs are fake but with a little bit of tubing and tape you can easily change the "faux" scoop into a functional scoop....

Nice find! How was it going though ebay for a car?
HighRev87
10-28-2004, 07:42 PM
Well, let me start with both my parents thought it was the stupidest idea of my life. But it was in my price range, and every specification I wanted. So far so good. The guy answered all of my questions through email. Provided pictures of everything I asked for, and generally was very helpful. He was also upfront about it's problems. After winning, the guy sent me an email with his phone number. I called him, and he was very nice over the phone, and had no problem with waiting until saturday until pickup. So like I said, so far so good. However I still dont have a car, so I can update this portion of the thread once I actually have the car in front of me. But from what it seems like, I dont expect anything wrong.
HiFlow, or anyone who may know....
My dad's main concern with a manual transmission with higher miles on it is that a replacement of the clutch will be likely pretty soon. With your guys experience of mustangs, if the car is driven average, how many miles is the clutch good for?

Update:
I purchased the car today. Since my dad was unsure of my manual ability, he drove it back (long distance) and i drove back his car. When we got back, He took me around. Lets just say I didnt do as good as I did in the parking lot at work (with the 5.0). Once I get going, im fine, 2-5 gears easy as anything. However I have a really hard time moving outta first, or reverse. I either give it to much gas, and get a bouncy launch, or I give it to little, and stall :(. Sound like a noob huh? Well I am. I just cant get used to the inital movement. Other then that everything a-ok.
Im going to work now, but Ill check for replies after I get home. So does anyone have any suggestions on moving outta first or reverse? If so please reply.
As for how did the eBay transaction go, for those interested in purchasing a car of eBay, I will be recieving the title tues (he is overnighting it on Monday.) So I will give a complete write up on how it went, its pros, its cons, ect.
Sadly for today and tommorow, my only driving will be with my dad, and I cant drive it monday because we dont have the title so we cant register it. Which means ill be driving the crap-fire for the next couple of days...God...

sounds like my GF when I was teaching her how to drive my car. She could shift uppergears no prob, just had a hard time in first.
All I can say is ease ever so slightly out of first with a little gas, along with practce practice practice! Try letting the clutch out very very slowly without giving the car gas, If done right, you should be able to get the car moving without ever touching the gas.

haha how old r u high rev? when i first got my licence i had to go through driving lessons and the first day i didnt even get to drive the car they just had me push the clutch in and out like 50 times! (my leg ended up so soar) first 10 times they told me to time the clutch release so that it took me like 20 seconds to pull it out then next 10 times time it to 15 and so on. i dont know how much that really helps (other than the workout to ur left leg) but i bet all its gonna take is a week of driving for u to be able to not stall. carefull with slopes, and stop signs or lights on steep hills! thats the trikiest part at first. well im shure youll get the hang of it pretty quik take care

if you hadn't said it, i would have. this is quite easy to do with a V8, i learned to do this with an I4.
happy for you highrev, keep us updated on your driving and your mods.

This reminds me of a VolksWagen commercial from about 5 years ago.
In the commerical there was a chick sitting on a workout bench and exercising her left calve with a bungee cord. A dude walks up to here and says, "So, what are you working on?".
She says, "I just traded in my Automatic transmission for a 6-speed".
The moral of the story is... You do need to exercise your leg because it will cramp up on you while you're driving.
Congratulations on your new Mustang!

Luckily I workout on a regular basis, so the clutch never really felt heavy to me. :D

Well I got it down almost 100% now. I have been driving to school, no problems at all. I am 17, and this is not my first car, the only reason that my dad was cautious with me is because I was going from an automatic 4banger to a manual v8.

Caution is good.
That's like going from a Sling Shot to a 9mm.
A Sling Shot can f*ck you up pretty good.
But a 9mm will blow your head off.

I let my friend drive my Cobra a few days ago and it was hilarious because her feet couldn't even reach the pedals (I have my seat set up for tall people). "Okay, let go of the clutch VERY SLOWLY" and of course, no sooner did I say that, the very familiar "hop" came next. She didn't stall it though. :p
