on the inside sticker on the end of my driver side door, it states that the weight of the vehical is 4057 pounds. yet everything i've seen from various other sources indicate the number is much closer to 3000lb, than 4000lb. could anyone please help me figure this out, i'm having an arguement with an idiotic friend of mine, and we can't agree as to which number is correct.

thanks, that's what i told him it was, but he won't listen, and says that since the door says it's 4000, it's 4000.
he's too much of an idiot to listen to anything i say (really, he should know better than that by now), so mainly what i'm looking for is an explanation to give him why the car says it's 4k when it's not...

The number on the inside of the door is GVWR(Gross Vehicle Weight Rating) Basically its what the car can haul including weight of the car.
You take the GVWR and subtract teh weight of an unloaded car with as little gas as possible and get it weighed. The result is the weight that the car can hold including gas, passengers and cargo.

Hope this helps.
That explains it a little better.

thanks stealth :)
he insisted that the car weighed 4000pounds, even after i told him repeatedly that everything i've ever seen indicates it's around 3000.
the main problem here is that he just likes disagreeing with everything i say, it really gets frustrating...
i tried to convince him into placing a bet, but he wouldn't :(
at least i can rub it in a little ;)

holy crap, i'm on the phone with him now and he still won't admit that it's 3000!!
he insists that it "must" be something more like 3500 then
oh well, he won't admit it, but he knows he's wrong now...

yeah the base Stealth is around 3100 pounds. I have yet to get mine weighed. In fact most TT's weigh in around 3500-3700 and some even lighter. The only 3s ever to hit 4000lbs were teh VR4 Spyders

if you want to show him proof, go to www.cars.com then click on the research tab . . . pull up the car and it will give you the curb weight. The curb weight is the weight of the car with a full tank of gas, and all fluid levels topped off.
