Sterring issues (sundance)

My car has recently picked up the nasty habbet of shakeing while going down the road. I have narrowed it down to the front suspention, but from there, I am stuck. The problem is wierd, it seems as if someone is holding onto the wheel and yerking it from side to side, keeping its speed relitive to the car's speed. (the faster I drive, the quicker it jerks) And its not just the wheel that ocolates, the whole car does with it. So, the question is, Why the heck does it do that? I get no creeking in the sterring, I didn't hit a curb, and the wheels don't wobble on the car.
I am at a loss, and I need the damn thing to go to work.

put it on jack stands to get the front wheels off the road which unloads the suspension, put the emergancy brake on, block the rear wheels, run it up to speed, if you are still getting the shake, you have a wheel or tire problem, if there is no shake or it is very minamal you have a loose suspension joint

Thanks, after talking to a garrage, they think it is the alignment, and are willing to do a free check out. Depending on what it is, I may be able to fix it my self, but I am almost positive that if the car was on jackstands, the shakeing would not be there.
