HEy you all enthusiasts,
I have recently adquired a 93 civic Coupe.
Black, no rims, no intake no nothing.
I have always wanted to have a coupe and fix it up, a friend of mine owns a body shop, i also know a really good mechanic. But what i am asking for is advise on what to do to it TO MAKE IT BURN RUBBER!!!
I used to have a Chevelle and we would go to the track all Thursdays, now i have this Civic but know nothing about imprts, HELP!!!
WHat do i do first to gain some HP, then what?
Do i fix the body first?
Isn't it beta to have a jacked up body with sick brains than a sexy car with no pwer?
let me know what you all think, you can post here all you want, i'ma paint this sucka too, but i want to have performance before looks.
I just changed the Water Pump and Oxigen Sensor. Changed the thermostat too.
What should the timing be? i have a 16 valve, 1.5 L engine. 4 cylinders.
Going to change the transmission to manual pretty soon. Any good advice as to what transmission or where to get it cheap?
Thank you everyone or whatever imput you may provide.

swap the motor and boost it. A b18b coupled with a Precision SC-61 turbo would be nice.

A b18b <------- HUH? Where can i find one? From what car does it come from?
SC-61 Turbo?<--------- AGAin, HUH? well, i just went through the whole FAQ sheet, though i did learn a lot of useful info more than half of those links are dead.
Thanx, i'll see what else i can dig up in the net

NICE!!!
Thanks, i love this type of help.
By the way, how much do you think i will end up spending on the engine, i know i'll have to check the tranny nad all other parts but the engine itself, about how much do you think it costs?

vtec o' no vtec. i think you all know the answer to that
go with a b18c, from the gsr, a little less hp but cheaper than the one from the type also a b18c. each would dominate the world of 4 cylinders with turbo

Tight, i just took the resonator out of my stock air intake. Does that help? I hear it gives more airflow compared to just having it there. It is just a bit louder too.

best bang for the buck...nitrious oxide...or you can do that other stuff too

If he is going to turbo it, I would go with the b18b, (non/vtec integra). Why not? It'll save at least two grand, and will be just as good with boost. Okay, b18c will have a little better air flow, but big whoop. I would save the money and get the non/vtec. B18B!

you don't get anymore air flow, just makes it a bit louder.

best bang is right. If you're not familiar with it, it can lead to nice big bang. But I guess you can say that about any type of FI.

Just what exactly (technically) is he difference between the B18B and the B18C, which one is cheaper? Which one is fater? Which one can be upgraded more? Which one will last longer? Much appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

depends on what you do to the motors.
The B18B has slightly larger displacement than the B18C and doesn't have VTEC. The B18C has VTEC, a better flowing head and intake mani, plus oil squirters and a block girdle.
If you want really high hp numbers the B18C would be the way to go whether it be N/A or FI.
For a street car the B18B would be best because it has more torque. Turbo this motor and you will see torque for days.
In terms of price the B18B is cheaper by about a grand or so. You can do the exact same mods to each because they are similar engines, and depending on how you treat it will determine how long each really lasts.

This car is going to be my daily diver so i just wnt it to have a long life, enough HP to give it a run everyonce in a while and look great too. I'm not too into the Wing and $20K rims but i just want it o look good. MAybe shave a couple of things, body kit 17's at most on the rims, and like i said a good engine. I'm just worrying about the brains right now 'cause what is the point of haveing a pimped out car with no HP?
Anyow, thanx, im inclining more towards the Non-Vtec model....b18b i think.

I wont tell you what you should do, but ill tell you what im doing. I have a 93 EX coupe. and i bought a 2000 b18c (GSR) with low miles for about 4g's (Tranny, ecu, shift link, axles etc included) but that wasnt enough, i want BIG Hp out of this motor so after 10g's (not including turbo) i have a motor that will handle 44psi of boost, but the bottom end can handle 10,000 RPM and 1,000hp. Im not saying my motor will produce that, but the bottom end was built for it. So, in my opinion if you have the money and patience (cuz high HP motors take time to build the right way) id go with the B18C cuz I think it has more potential.

I completely agree with you. I had a huge debate in the turbo forum about B18C's vs. B18B's. A B18C is going to produce more power, but for a street car you want tons and tons of torque. A B18B can give you that. It's all where your priorities lie.

B18b is what i'm inclining owards and it seems everyone agrees, cool. So i should expect to spend about 5G's just on motor, install and parts. Plus trbo and all the other nice stuff huh.
Geez, it's expensive....but worth it !!!!

cool, i just dont like to seem like im pickin on someone especially when that person has 2,700+ more posts than i do.. lol :banghead: and when i said "noobs" i meant in general, not picking one person out. Just the high school kids that think they know it all and end up making an a$$ of them- selves by posting that their car has 500+ hp on stock internals with a "super custom" turbo kit that cost them 10g's... lol
