sorry guys for the repost but i put this in the sub forums and only got two replys and not much insight into the y of things

ok eventually i will be building up a mild 350 but for now since it might be awile i want to get what i got running decent. i have the 91 305 tbi and have already took off the cat and welded a pipe in there and have a 3 in pipe from y pipe to flowmaster 70 series mufler and dual 2.5 inch outs. my question is there r so many headers in these magizines and i dont know what to get. i see headers (good brands) for around 150 then i see cat forward system like the ones from eddelbrock for like almost 400. what do i do?? and if i just buy the less expensive like hooker headers i assume they dont come w/ a y pipe if i was to weld one up would it put a big damper on performance since i dont know any magic design techniques they clame?? and also if i buy the cat forward system instead i heard that i could order the one for the 350 tpi single cat and get a 3 inch y pipe as apposed to 305 tbi w/ a 2.5 inch y pipe and it would still bolt right up and clear everything is this true please help!!!

yes you could bolt on a tpi system for the tbi just make sure it's single cats, and with headers just look at their flow chart and please make sure you get the ceramic coating on your headers

well, your gonna get what you pay for, i bought hedders and y-pipe for my 94 and it was a big hassle. i bought pacesetters and a ypipe on ebay for $260, i put them on myself and it turned out the flanges on the hedders were not straight and the gaskets they gave me were cheap bullshit. now not that this is what you should expect from a cheaper brand, but just make sure everything is what it is supposed to be before you waste a bunch of time putting it on. and if you can afford it, get ceramic coating, everything else will burn off. but if you drive the car everyday, theyre probably not going to rust. even used hedders are a good way to go, get some already coated for cheap, just make sure they arent already rusted or beat up. check ebay

pacesetters are crap.

i have headmans and their alright. Painting headers is useless and they will rust. The only way to keep them looking nice is to get ceramic coated headers.

well really im not getting them all for looks i already have a exaust from the y back and im looking at headers and a intake manifold and summit has hooker and hedman headers for alot cheaper than the edelbrock cat forward system but the others dont come w/ a y pipe and i was wondering if i could buy one seperate and still get by cheaper or possibly have one made and not loose hp

tell me about it, the first time, i bought the hedders from pacesetter and i received them and they were not flat. then they said they were gonna give me a new set, they sent me one hedder, one. then the third time they sent me a new set and a new y pipe and the hedders were actually flat this time. only took 3 months! :iceslolan
