I just recently bought a 2002 mustang GT 5spd...and just today I noticed when I shift second gear I can feel like a grinding feeling in the shifter and it makes a sound. and one time...it popped out of second gear causing me to grind it. :( It only does this 3 out of 5 shifts. It's like a crunching sound. So...if any has anything to say please comment! Thanks!!!!

Oh yeah...it's still under factory warranty. Thanks!

Bring it to the factory tell them your problem. Sounds like a syncro problem, basically the syncros might not be lining up causing it to grind.

yeah it sounds like u have a worn out synco my 2ed and 3rd do that. try when u are shifting to bring it out of first then put it in nuetral release the clutch then push the clutch back in and put it in 2ed (double clutching i think is what it is called)

I definitely sounds like syncros. I was gonna say it could be a misadjusted clutch, but then it would most likely do it throughout all gears. If its still warranteed then take it back and have em fix it. Gotta take advantage of the factory warranties. If its real bad, they'll probably give you a new trans too. We do a lot of that where I work.

u can always rebuild the tranny buy a rebuild kit, take it to a tranny shop have them drop it out for u and then take it home a rebuild it.

O......K..... but doing that would defeat the whole purpose of having a warranty!

With the syncros it's hit and miss sometimes the gears will go in everytime, other days the gears will grind in the same spot. Sooner or later it will get worse, with more consistent grinding.
