hello all,

My 1996 E36-318TDS went for service for about a week and I think they disconnected the battery for that long.
Now the remote control doesn't work, the doors don't lock and neither the alarm gets armed.

I think the problem was the battery being disconnected for that long and now I'm looking for any suggestions for this problem.

Do I need to reprogram the alarm system in order to get it working again?

Do you know any trick I can try in my remote buttons to get it fixed?

The alarm is BMW original and it has the GEMEL (I think) Brand.

It also has a little key for deactivation and a little red led that lights up when the alarm gets armed.

Tks a lot.

OK I Have a 1990 I I never drive the thing. While at work 1 day neighbor told me Alarm went off all day long. I disregarded it. A week later I tried to start the car and nothing. I hooked up jumper cables, all lighst and instrument panel was working still no turn over. I "thought " it was the starter so I wasdted money on a new one Had the car towed to the mechanic the guy put the new starter in without testing the old one Nothing Then He put in a new battery. Nothing. After a week He cut the wire to my alarm and said something about a relay. Now the car starts I wasted money on a Starter a Battery and towing. Most upsetting of all I have no alarm. The guy tells me to bring it to an audio shop and get a new alarm installed like I have money like that. Does any one know if I can still save the old alarm???
